Trainer David Simcock has saddled up 10 winners from 70 runners in the last 4 weeks so his string are ticking over nicely. Hopefully his 3.20pm runner at Wolverhampton can add to that tally by breaking his duck this afternoon....
Impact Point seems short enough to me at a shade of odds on this morning, despite a promising enough effort when staying on to chase home easy winner Dubai Horizon the last day. It’s only his second career start and this is a whole new trip on a different surface. Abjar worries me a little more than the favourite on the back of a solid effort over 10f at Newcastle the last day, but he has been off for over 2 months now and all things considered, Balashakh looks the bet at 5/1. David Simcock’s 3yo has solid form in defeat and is proven at 1m4f unlike the rest of this field. Sure, one or both heading the market may be crying out for it, but you don’t know until you know. Balashakh has improved through each of his last three starts and another step forward should see him go very well under Martin Harley.
