We return to action in the GG Tips Den with three selections on the flat, two from Catterick and a double stakes selection in the 2.25pm at Leicester.
2.15 - Hot Hannah 3/1 generally
Hot Hannah - Hamidans Girl is in good form and clocked a big speed rating at Musselburgh the last day, but her last disappointment was on soft ground and she remains unproven on the surface. With that in mind she might be vulnerable from stall 11. Just inside her in stall 10 is the pacy and also in-form Hot Hannah, who did all bar win from the front at Hamilton the last day. When the ground is testing at Catterick, horses can get a clean run from a wide draw a lot easier than on fast around here and the Michael Dods trained filly remains competitively handicapped on a mark of 66. Callum Rodriguez is a tidy operator claiming 5lb off the selection, with 6 winners from 41 rides in the past 28 days and he’ll be keen to follow up his nose 2nd on this horse last month with a win this afternoon.
Excellent World - Tony Coyle is hard to catch right and the trainer is 0/25 in the last month, but several of his horses have been running well in defeat in recent days, suggesting a winner may not be too far away. He has just the one runner today and Excellent World looks to have a better chance than odds of 12/1 suggest in the 5.15pm handicap at Catterick. She comes here on the back of a fair effort on soft over 6f at Hamilton, where she weakened into 4th in the final half furlong. A step back to the minimum trip will suit today off a low weight, the last time she ran over 5f the lightly-raced 4yo was staying on strongly in the closing stages at Southwell back in March. With the benefit of two decent runs on the turf over 6f since, she looks as well positioned as many do here to have a big say at the finish at a decent price.
Ziarah - Clive Cox is in tremendous form and his Shepherd Market may be hard to beat here, not to mention potential improvers Aim Of Artemis, Hula Girl and Tivoli. But Ziarah has a nice mix of experience and form coming into this, her last two races are working out well, she clocked a good speed rating last time out and should run a big race for James Tate and Martin Harley at a fair price against the top two.
Sean OʼCasey, Phoenix Dawn - Sean O’Casey ran well over 1m2f at Bath last time out and looks overpriced to appreciate this return to 12f under Silvestre De Sousa. Phoenix Dawn is a strong stayer but isn’t devoid of pace. Brendan Powell’s 3yo gelding is performing consistently and it’s somewhat surprising to see him trading quite as big as 14/1 this morning.
