track-bia14s-diary-v2MR WAGYU has a strong seasonal pattern to his form, running his best races in June and July. After ‘duck eggs’ on his first two starts this term he looked on his way back when sixth at Hamilton last time, doing best of those to race down the stands’ side. He can be backed in division one of the 6f Castleford Tigers Handicap at Pontefract on Monday night (8.05).

His record in June or July reads 2116113131 (6-10) for a profit of £21.27 to a £1 level stake at SP. Rain is a slight concern and I’ve staked accordingly (he would have been a three-pointer on good to firm going).

OPEN WIDE failed to handle the track at Epsom when tenth of 19 in the “Dash” last time but kept on best of all and the 25-1 shot was less than three lengths behind the winner. That was his fourth straight eyecacthing effort from off the pace since wind surgery and I’m going to give him one more chance in the 5f Visit Handicap at Windsor (7.15). His record here reads 1222233 (1-7) and there should be plenty of pace on despite the smallish field.
