track-bia14s-diary-v2COLD SHOULDER caught the eye at Fontwell last December, finishing a respectable fifth despite pulling hard and racing on the slower ground towards the inside rail. He was also keen on his next two starts, finishing fourth at Leicester and Ffos Las.

He left Tom Symonds for Gordon Elliott after those runs, reappearing at Perth in September. He was strong in the market that day on his first run for six months but didn’t see out the 2m4f trip, finishing sixth of the 15 runners. A subsequent modest effort in novice hurdle company at Downpatrick can be forgiven and the track should prove more suitable at Bangor where he contests the 2m Call Star Sports On 08000 521321 Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle (5.00).

STAY IN THE LIGHT is a more speculative selection in division one of the 1m2f Bet Handicap at Chelmsford tonight (7.45). The three-year-old daughter of Showcasing has yet to win but is bred for Polytrack and has only had one run at the trip on this surface, finishing a 20-1 third at Lingfield. She didn’t stay 1m4f at Kempton last time and is worth chancing at decent odds.

COLD SHOULDER – Bangor 5.00 (3pts win, 11-4 generally)

STAY IN THE LIGHT – Chelmsford 7.45 (1pt each-way, 28-1 Marathonbet, 25-1 Bet365)
