The centre of the track is riding quicker than the stands’ side at Nottingham, favouring those drawn very low in big-field sprints when there are enough runners to stretch across. Since the start of last year we’ve had 18 races over the 6f course to feature ten or more runners and nine of them were won by stalls two or three.
Mick Appleby’s ZAPPER CLASS (stall two of ten) found 5f too sharp when fourth here on his penultimate start and has since run a solid 20-1 second at Chelmsford, albeit in Class 5 company. He’s up to Class 3 level in the MansionBet Handicap today (3.15) but is two from two over course and distance and looks guaranteed to handle the heavy conditions.
Zapper Class – Nottingham 3.15 (1.5pts win, 12-1 William Hill)
