There’s no out-and-out front-runner in the 6f Weatherbys TBA Handicap at Newmarket on Tuesday (1.50) but GREEN POWER (stall 14 of 15), whose latest win came from stall ten of ten when getting the rail at Ascot, should be up there from the outset under Ryan Moore and can make all against the stands’ rail. He wasn’t beaten far when fourth of 17 on his recent comeback at Doncaster (‘close up’) and remains open to improvement on only his second start since gelded.
Moore should also be able to bag the stands’ rail on Mark Johnston’s VICTORY COMMAND (stall seven of seven) in the bet365 European Free Handicap (2.25). He had a tough time in Dubai but beat all bar Aidan O’Brien’s trio in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes here last autumn and will appreciate the cut back to 7f. His record at this sort of trip reads 1114 (3-4), with the defeat in the Solario Stakes behind Too Darn Hot.
Green Power – Newmarket 1.50 (1.5pts each-way, 8-1 Skybet, three places or 6-1 William Hill, four places)
Victory Command – Newmarket 2.25 (1pt win, 22-1 Paddy Power, 20-1 generally, including Ladbrokes)
