Andrew Mount provides his analysis and best bets for Wetherby’s jumps action on Saturday
The three that head the betting in the five-runner wetherbyracing.co.uk Handicap Chase all seem best on soft or heavy going and NUTS WELL is taken to cause something of a minor upset on his return to fences (2.15).
Ann Hamilton’s eight-year-old reverted to hurdles after a bad blunder put paid to his chances on soft ground at Carlisle in November but the quicker surface will help his jumping, as will the very small field. His full record in fields of five or fewer runners stands at 11211 (4-5) and the track only had 0.5mm of rain overnight.
A prominent ride around the inside of the track (where the ground was slowest) did for KAPGARRY at Ascot last time and he’ll be happiest returned to the course and distance of his latest success in the Watch Racing TV In Stunning HD Handicap Hurdle (2.50). He wasn’t disgraced in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham on his penultimate start - where he also raced on the slower part of the track - and the good ground will suit.
Nuts Well – Wetherby 2.15 (1pt win, 11-2 generally)
Kapgarry – Wetherby 2.50 (1pt win, 11-2 Betfair, Paddy Power)
