Wolves vs Liverpool Predictions & Tips – Can Basement Boys Upset Rampant Reds?

It does not get any easier for Wolves and Gary O’Neil. So far in the Premier League, their five matches have all been against teams in the top eight and the visit of second-placed Liverpool leaves only Manchester City left for them to play in the division’s leading octet (they played seventh-placed Brighton in the League Cup as well). Arne Slot will surely send his team out sensing goals.

For the Reds, four wins out of five in the league sit them second, though it could easily have been a 100% record they arrive at Molyneux with. As it is, their 1-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest remains the only blemish, and with momentum on their side following a 3-0 win over Bournemouth and 5-1 League Cup thrashing of West Ham, they are strong 2/5 favourites at best with Midnite, while William Hill offer a high of 8/1 for the hosts to cause an upset.

Wolves vs Liverpool Tips

Tip #1 – Dominik Szoboszlai to Score First @ 14/1 with SkyBet

He has not been prolific in his Liverpool career, but many clubs in Germany, as well as countries on the international stage, have felt the wrath of a purely struck Dominik Szoboszlai effort. Though it has been Luis Diaz racking up the majority of Liverpool’s goals so far, Wolves may look to sit deep and contain against their visitors here, after a long term injury suffered by starting centre back Yerson Mosquera ruled him out for the season.

With Craig Dawson suddenly thrust into the spotlight during a period of substantial leaks at the back, Gary O’Neil will know that his side must be very well-drilled to prevent their hosts from capitalising at will. As a result, the space afforded to Diaz and Mohamed Salah could be at more of a premium than it normally would be against a Wolves side that tries to play expansively at home. Expect the gaps to appear at the edge of the penalty area or for a man arriving late: Szoboszlai.

Tip #2 – Liverpool to Win & Over 3.5 Goals Scored @ 17/10 with bet365

Combining any other market with a Liverpool win looks the soundest bet. Four of Wolves’ seven matches in all competitions so far have contained four or more goals, and it could well be a case of when the floodgates open, they allow a deluge.

That said, the only team to prevent O’Neil’s men from scoring this season have been Arsenal. Liverpool may be the one side in the Premier League to have shipped fewer than the Gunners so far, but they have had a more routine start to the season and Wolves have been lively enough in attack to net themselves. All told, the combination of prolific attack versus malleable defence, plus an underdog with enough flair to create openings, should lead to a game of goals.

Wolves Performances So Far

Wolves’ board of directors may have to be patient and understand their fixture list has been brutal so far. Wolves have come close against Aston Villa and Newcastle to decent scalps, but late concessions have cost them. Unfortunately for them, this test looks harder still.

Liverpool Performances So Far

Broadly, there are significant positives to take from Arne Slot’s early weeks after replacing Jurgen Klopp. They have already got one over rivals Manchester United, made a positive start to their European campaign, and conceded just twice in all competitions. The Forest defeat on home turf is their only setback as yet.
