Song Saa should be up to winning the 2.00 at Lingfield on Tuesday. After just two starts over fences, the seven-year-old has plenty more to offer over the larger obstacles.

The mile and a half handicap at Lingfield on Tuesday looks a very open affair but nonetheless a big chance for ARDAMIR (Wolverhampton, nap, 3.40) to claim a first win on the level.
I Just Know may not do anything in a hurry but has the stamina necessary to land the 3.10 at Doncaster on Monday. Sue Smith’s gelding is toughness personified over today’s three mile trip.

AURORA GRAY (Lingfield, 2.15) impressed when she landed a competitive race of its type three weeks ago and she looks a solid bet to follow up off her revised mark today. The grey daughter of Rip Van Winkle displayed a sharp turn of foot to transform an uncompromising position on the home turn into a winning one and a similar change of gear could be enough to see her supplement that success given the speed figure she recorded that day.
Today in the den we have a mix of selections under both codes on what promises to be a fun afternoon of horse racing around the home isles...

CHOCALA (Sandown, 3.35) was a strong stayer on the flat, but has found two-and-a-half miles beyond him in two decent novice events this term.

STEELRIVER (Kempton, 4.30) has emptied more pockets than a snooker referee in his time, but if the gelding is ever going to win again then the masterful hands of George Baker could work the oracle.
Two Swallows has taken on a new lease of life since joining Ben Pauling and is fancied to follow-up her recent Doncaster win by landing the 1.05 at Wetherby on Friday.

Ten weeks of hugely competitive international racing gets underway at Meydan on Thursday, with seven races to start us off. The first of the Thoroughbred events is an open mile and a half handicap on turf, which isn’t quite as competitive as you’d expect for the grade. Therefore a chance is taken on Desert God, the highest earning Indian-trained horse ever, to be good enough here.

Black Valentine is fancied to follow-up his recent Wincanton success by taking the 1.20 at Lingfield on Thursday. The extra distance should see him in an even better light.

PETITE JACK (Lingfield, 3.15) displayed a terrific turn of speed to win from an uncompromising position last time and may not have finished improving.
Strong Pursuit can land the second division of the novices’ hurdle at Hereford on Wednesday. The former Irish pointer is highly thought of by Philip Hobbs and should be up to defying a penalty in the 3.25.
I will round off the 2016 P&L figures today and publish an update this week and we get going for the first week in January with these two selections over the jumps...
Becauseshesaidso gets the nod in a low grade handicap hurdle at Bangor on Tuesday. The nine-year-old has few miles on the clock and looks the one to beat in the 2.50.

Backing a horse like BECAUSESHESAIDSO (Bangor, 2.50) doesn’t come without pitfalls, but the nine-year-old rates the most interesting runner in the Stella Artois Handicap Hurdle.

Trainer Dan Skelton immediately earmarked Saturday’s Grade 1 as a mid-season target for ROBIN ROE (Newbury, 1.50) after witnessing his gelding dismantle a useful Aintree field in the autumn and the five-year-old boasts a great chance of vindicating the faith.
Robin Roe can prove that he is more than just a talking horse by taking the 1.50 at Newbury on Saturday. This grade one prize has been the horse’s target since he won at Aintree 69 days ago.

LETS GO DUCHESS (Taunton, 4.00) lost little in defeat when beaten by subsequent winner Soupy Soups at Wincanton and should appreciate the return to Taunton.
Mount Mews should be able to defy a penalty and land the 1.40 at Haydock on Friday. Unbeaten in three career starts, he looks a horse of huge potential.
The Christmas racing bonanza continues today, highlighted today at Leopardstown where we have three selections, backed up by a couple at Doncaster and Limerick. Fingers crossed a few of these can run very well....
