Track Bias Diary - Tuesday 9 July

image-left-align track-bia14s-diary-v2Forty Four Sunsets was only fifth of the 13 runners at Lingfield on his latest start but the time was quick for the grade and the race is working out well, with fourth-placed Cherry Cola completing a hat-trick since and ninth home Altaira scoring comfortably at Brighton on his only subsequent outing. Jazz Hands, tenth in that race, was placed at 11-1 next time and it certainly looks solid form for a lowly 1m2f Class 6 handicap.

image-left-align track-bia14s-diary-v2LIBERTY BEACH (stall two of ten) overcame a pace bias when a 16-1 Redcar winner on her debut and followed up in the Hilary Needler at Beverley despite being drawn widest of all. Backed from 33-1 into 16-1 for the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot next time, she ran a blinder in fourth place, doing best of those drawn low (first four drawn 25, 18, 23 and six of 25). I was hoping for a higher draw in the Listed Chasemore Dragon Stakes at Sandown (2.20), as the far rail has not been the ideal place to race at recent meetings, but I still think she’s worth an interest.

Track Bias Diary - Wednesday 3 July

image-left-align track-bia14s-diary-v2Since he qualified for a handicap mark, TRIBAL WARRIOR has had three starts on right-handed tracks, winning them all. James Tate’s four-year-old has been off the track for 375 days but wouldn’t be going all the way to Musselburgh from Newmarket for the ROA Rewards Members Handicap (3.30) if fitness were an issue. He’s well drawn in stall two to track likely pace angle Raselasad (stall one) and his trainer has won with three of his last four course runners.

image-left-align track-bia14s-diary-v2In-form jockey Tom Marquand has a fine record when riding for Tony Carroll, especially in handicaps at the lower end of the class scale. In Class 6 handicaps only, he’s won on 14 of his 83 rides for the yard (17% strike-rate) for a profit of £32.38 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£53.07 at Betfair SP).
