Form & Verdict
Formerly top of this division; won the Stayers' Hurdle three seasons ago and this race in 2019 and 2020 (it was abandoned last year); operating below his peak form this term, most recently about 5l behind Champ when bidding for a repeat success in the Long Walk (tongue-tie applied there is retained today), though at least that was a step back in the right direction; possibly ready to shine again, given his unbeaten (2-2) Cleeve record.

Won this in 2019 and third to Flooring Porter last year; this 10yo wasn't at his very best towards the end of last year but did extremely well to win the Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle over C&D in January (good; Champ second) having whipped round and lost ground at the start; can't afford to repeat those antics but that latest effort confirms he retains lots of his old spark and he could play a leading role if again on song; has won a Grade 1 on heavy.

Form & Verdict
Got into no jumping rhythm in last season's Gold Cup, then had back surgery; with chasing career shelved he made a successful return to hurdles in the Long Walk at Ascot (3m, good to soft; fourth Grade 1 win) six weeks ago, moving easily into the lead on the home bend then sticking on well when challenged; now 6-8 in this sphere and has suddenly reinvented himself as a serious Stayers' Hurdle candidate; strongly respected.

Beat Thyme Hill to win Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot (3m, good to soft) in December; hasn't matched that form at Cheltenham the next twice, most recently 4l fourth to Flooring Porter in the Stayers' Hurdle (3m, soft), but he travelled well into the straight last time and today's less demanding track could be in his favour; won C&D Grade 1 on sole course visit; not ruled out.

Lightly raced since winning what is now the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (3m, soft) at the 2020 Festival; reverted to hurdles for this season's reappearance and beat Thyme Hill and Paisley Park in the Grade 1 Long Walk at Ascot (3m, good to soft) in December; firmly in calculations on that form but he needs to perform better than in the Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle over C&D in January, when Paisley Park gained his revenge.

Form & Verdict
Substandard winner of the Stayers' Hurdle in 2020 when Paisley Park was beaten favourite and outsiders came to the fore (he started at 50-1; finished third in this contest the time before); inconsistent since and was well behind Paisley Park at Newbury in November, then dropped out tamely in the Long Walk; reapplication of cheekpieces (early faller on previous attempt) needs to have positive effect.

Mixed record since winning this race at 50-1 two years ago and has been unable to hit the same heights (fell mid-race in this last year); however, he is suited by this course and his third of five behind Paisley Park and Champ in the Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle over C&D in January was a creditable effort as he had to make his own running and the good ground was probably faster than ideal for him; today's race should be run at a suitably strong clip and, with yesterday's rain a plus, he could go well at an attractive price.

Form & Verdict
Triple Grade 2 scorer; raced mainly over shorter trips but gives the impression he's worth another go at 3m (finished 5l behind Paisley Park at Newbury on sole attempt); had wind surgery prior to his respectable effort in the Relkeel here (2m4f, soft) on New Year's Day when making seasonal debut, inheriting second after Brewin'upastorm fell at the final flight; possibilities if he improves for the return to further.

Nearly always seen in Graded races and his only handicap was an easy 2m5f win at Kempton two years ago; career-best form last term at 2m3f-3m and he made a respectable return here on New Year's Eve, before folding over 3m here four weeks later; this sort of trip may well be ideal but even peak form may not be enough; wears headgear first time.

Form & Verdict
Useful handicap hurdler last term for Willie Mullins, winning Pertemps qualifier at Leopardstown and creditable seventh in the Final here; failed to show his form at Wincanton on Boxing Day when making debut for Fergal O'Brien; has the worst chance at the weights in this field.

Won the Leopardstown qualifier (3m, soft) last Christmas and was seventh in the final at Cheltenham; off since May and has been transferred from Willie Mullins; handicapped up to his best and he was below form in last two seasons on first run after summer break but still one to keep an eye on given that this race may not be that strong.
