Form & Verdict

Promising third at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good) in November on second chase start and built on that with comfortable win at Wetherby (2m5f, heavy) last month; a 9lb rise isn't harsh and his dam is a sister to Grand National winner Neptune Collonges so there's every chance he'll stay this far.

Dour stayer who loves the mud; five chase wins include one here; reliable in these valuable staying chases without ever looking particularly well handicapped, and he was beaten 24l into fourth in this last year when 3lb lower; having another solid season but hard to believe he's any better now than 12 months ago; first-time tongue-tie.

Goes well on soft/heavy; his three chase wins have been at up to 3m2f and his well-held fourth in last season's Classic Chase (favourite) and Midlands National (4m2f, soft) both saw a dip in his form; there can't be much doubt that he'll stay, though, given the way he kept on strongly for third to Malina Girl over the extended 3m3f at Cheltenham on latest start; needs to improve but he's a strong each-way candidate.

Goes well on soft/heavy; won twice last season and resumed with a win at Carlisle (up 7lb since) one month ago, all at 3m to nearly 3m2f; fourth in last season's Classic Chase (3m5f, heavy) and Midlands National (4m2f, soft) both saw a dip in his form but this progressive 7yo will surely prove his stamina in due course and needs plenty of respect.

10yo who has been very up and down since returning from a long absence last January and was pulled up on his reappearance at Lingfield in October; however, he twice finished runner-up early last year and can't be ruled out off a handy mark; soft ground would probably aid his cause.

Two hurdle wins and although a maiden over fences he's shown useful form at times, most recently when chasing home an improver at Market Rasen last February (3m, good to soft; acts well on soft); respectable fourth back from break at Doncaster and easing ground a plus.

0-8 over fences with an in-and-out profile, and he's been absent since being pulled up at Fakenham last April; however, he's had wind surgery since (his third such operation) and has run well after an absence in the past; on a handy mark and capable of a bold show.

0-7 over fences and not very consistent but ran a big race from the front when second at Market Rasen (3m, good to soft) last month and a subsequent 2lb nudge up the weights ought to be manageable.

Form & Verdict

Ran well at Lingfield on first two chase starts (2m4f, good to soft) and displayed improved form when winning by 11l at Fakenham (2m5f, soft) on New Year's Day; there can be optimism this 6yo has more to offer over fences, especially now up in trip, but he's tended to jump to his left and today is his first chase run at a right-handed track.

Progressive last season and has continued the good work this term, staying on well to beat subsequent Classic Chase winner My Silver Lining at Sandown (3m, soft) before a close third in the Lincolnshire National at Market Rasen (3m3f, good to soft) on his first run beyond 3m; solid candidate.

Well handicapped on her 2019 form and was returning from a long absence when tailed off over hurdles at Doncaster in November; may have needed that run, and cheekpieces return today, but it remains to be seen how much ability this 10yo retains.

Returned to form with good third at Uttoxeter in September and he's one to watch in the betting now 10lb lower; however, he's struggled on his three runs since and is back to having something to prove.

Beat Lough Salt by (5lb better off) by 2.5l when winning over C&D last month (3m, good); didn't jump that well when third at Fontwell last time (2m3f, good to soft); return to 3m will suit.

11yo who was pulled up at Wetherby (2m3f, soft) on Boxing Day and it's possible he prefers better ground nowadays; prior to that he proved his stamina with two solid thirds over 3m/3m1f (good/good to soft) and, having edged further down the weights, he has possibilities if conditions suit.
