Form & Verdict

Six-time winner who has been beaten just the once, by the high-class Ferny Hollow in a maiden hurdle in 2020; no horse has managed to lay a glove on him since, including in a stunning success in last season's Ballymore Novices' Hurdle (2m5f, good to soft) at this meeting; hasn't been absolutely foot-perfect in his two chase wins (over 2m4f on soft; also won on heavy) but he was well on top when it mattered on both occasions (latterly a Grade 3); he's still improving and has the game to go a long way.

He failed to fulfil the superstar potential shown when easily winning the 2m5f Grade 1 novice hurdle at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival but has been rejuvenated this season, winning two 2m4f Grade 2s; another big run when second to subsequent Champion Hurdle winner State Man over an inadequate 2m in the Irish Champion Hurdle in February (soft), beating third-placed Impaire Et Passe by 5l, and he's a leading candidate now back up in distance.

Has never fulfilled the promise of his brilliant win in the 2021 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at the Festival (2m5f, good to soft) but has still won four of his subsequent eight starts, most recently the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle at Navan (2m4f, soft to heavy) in November on his reappearance; he beat some quality performers last time and is entitled to considerable respect.

Form & Verdict

Won on soft ground early in career but unraced on worse than good to soft since last February; exploited his handy 4yo allowance in chases earlier this season, winning three times (2m3f-2m6f); would have found 2m1f on the sharp side in the Irish Arkle at Leopardstown but that ruthlessly exposed his limitations at this level.

Has run creditably in a variety of competitive races but his last win came in the Kerry National (3m, good) in October 2022 and he has rarely been at his best over the last 12 months; could do with the ground drying out.

Tough and consistent at his best; won the Kerry National in 2022 and produced his best performance in a while when sixth in the Paddy Power here at Christmas; could come on again for that and might not be far away.

Form & Verdict

Won his final two hurdle races last campaign and, after struggling to deal with class acts on his first two runs over fences, he made the most of a simple task when odds-on at Limerick last weekend (soft/heavy); not in the same class as the big two here but, due to the poor turnout, a clear round guarantees him some good prize-money.

Useful for Willie Mullins, including when third of 15 finishers in the Galway Plate (2m6f, good; has won on soft/heavy) in July 2022; however, he has failed to complete in two starts this year, pulling up for new yard over hurdles in October, and has something to prove back over fences.

Form & Verdict

Unraced on worse than good to soft since last February but won on very soft in France; comfortably defied a big weight in last season's Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle at this meeting and he followed up by 12l in a 3m Grade 1 novice at Punchestown; so far so good over fences, having jumped round Leopardstown like a seasoned pro in winning both his starts in a canter, latterly a Grade 1 at the Dublin Racing Festival; appears to have it all, as he jumps, stays and his cruising speed might just set him apart; impossible to knock.

His jumping can switch between swift and stutter but he came into his own on this steep finish when beating Bravemansgame in fine style in this race last year; has been beaten only twice when completing over fences, each time by Fastorslow, but he had excuses as the first was his final run of the season and the second came on his reappearance; had the measure of that one at Leopardstown last month and although the win wasn't emphatic enough to think that this is a done deal, he should still be hard to beat.
