Form & Verdict

The only one of these with a recent run under his belt having made a successful debut at Doncaster (7f, good; 13-2) last month despite showing signs of greenness; the race has already produced a winner and although his sire is 0-17 here in the past two years, he has to be respected.

Won his first three career starts in spring 2022 and he was bang there, not getting best of runs, when fourth in the Group 1 St James's Palace at Royal Ascot (1m) that June; the clear pick on the latter form but unraced on softer than good and had only one race last term, when well below form in Group 2 at Newmarket in September; entered in next month's Group 1 Lockinge and it will be interesting to see his market strength.

Won last spring on first three starts (7f/1m, good/AW; including the German 2,000 Guineas) and granted a clear run he would probably have made it 4-4 in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm) last June; absent since but strong claims if retaining all of his ability.

Form & Verdict

Runner-up behind a couple of smarts sorts from the Charlie Appleby yard in his first two starts at Newmarket (7f/1m) last summer, firstly behind the subsequent Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Modern Games and then chasing home the Autumn Stakes winner Coroebus; made no mistake when beating a subsequent winner at Ascot (7f, good) in September and this half-brother to an AW winner should take the beating on this return; holds a 2000 Guineas entry and stable has won two of the last three runnings of this, including with the smart Mostahdaf last year.

4yo who is in top hands and has raced 12 times; two of his very best performances have come in big-field handicaps, when going close in last year's Britannia (1m, good to firm) at Royal Ascot and when a head second of 17 over C&D in May (good to soft; denied a clear run); interesting given this ideal scenario; blinkers refitted in place of first-time cheekpieces.

Sole win came in a maiden as 2yo; went very close at Royal Ascot in 2022 (1m) and at Newmarket Guineas meeting this year (1m1f) and he fared easily the best of all five in this field when back at Royal Ascot (1m2f) on latest outing, coming a creditable fifth of 16 in Listed race; tried cheekpieces on last two starts but former blinkers now return; those peak efforts were in large fields when ridden by Frankie Dettori, whereas overall record is mixed, so the issue is not as clearcut as the Ascot result might suggest.

Course winner as 2yo; went very close from off the pace in the Britannia at last year's Royal meeting (1m, good to firm) and underlined what a talented performer he is on his day when narrowly denied by King Of Conquest in 1m1f Newmarket handicap (good to soft; first-time cheekpieces, retained) on reappearance; arguably a little unfortunate having had to wait for a run and that reopposing rival (who meets him on 3lb worse terms now) has boosted the form since; slightly mixed overall record but he hasn't finished out of the first two when partnered by Dettori and is capable of a big run.

Form & Verdict

Off the mark on his second start at Chester (7.6f, good) last September and may not have handled the underfoot conditions when well held under his penalty at Salisbury (7f, soft) later in month; dam was a French 8.5f AW winner, but he faces some progressive type on this return and probably needs to step up.

Form & Verdict

Both runs came over 7f here last autumn, showing plenty of promise when third of 12 on his debut in September and improving to floor a long-odds-on shot from the Gosden yard a fortnight later; both of those race were steadily run, but so might this and with the track not a problem he has to be taken seriously.

Held back by inexperience on his debut here two weeks ago but he ran on well close home when the penny began to drop and he's capable of much better; place claims at the very least.
