Form & Verdict

Unraced at two; has worn headgear all starts but he showed fight when seeing off a strong challenge on Kempton Polytrack in February (1m4f) and has since raced clean away with a 1m4f Leicester novice (good to soft); that form can be queried and the drop is trip is not ideal for this stout stayer but he is going the right way and the yard could hardly be in better form; cheekpieces refitted in place of blinkers.

Form & Verdict

Has improved with each run, winning with more authority than the narrow winning margin suggests on Chelmsford Polytrack in February; emphatically the best horse on the day when beating reappearing rivals in a 1m2f Doncaster handicap (good) 23 days ago but tendency to hang raises questions about this tricky track now up in class.

Quirky sort whose best effort came with clearcut Group 3 win at Newbury (1m4f, soft) in April, despite again hanging badly left in latter stages; no show in Group 2 at Royal Ascot (1m4f, good to firm; ran well with the same conditions there one year earlier) on his only run since; Ryan Moore rides him for the first time; major work to do even on best form.

Quirky sort who might have collared Changingoftheguard in the King Edward VII over C&D 12 months ago had he kept a true line; regained the winning thread in Group 3 at Newbury (1m4f, soft) on sole outing this term, despite again hanging badly left in latter stages; this is a harder task.

Had his quirks last term (gelded before final start; wore headgear last four) and going very close in the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot (1m4f) remains clearly his highest rating; first start on softer than good was his respectable third to Max Vega in Group 3 over C&D (heavy) last October; even peak form may not be good enough.

Improving over slightly shorter on Wolverhampton Tapeta but the remote second there last month had even bigger drubbing by Nahanni at Leicester since; may do better yet but big step up in class coincides with first experience of turf.

Impressed in defying a penalty at Wolverhampton and it was a cracking effort in defeat at Epsom (1m2f, good), especially as he didn't look overly at ease with the track; fourth-placed United Nations clearly took a significant step forward on that form when winning last week at Lingfield but this colt could do likewise; respected.

Out of Grade 1 winner who has bred several good performers, including at Listed level; workmanlike winner of 7f Naas maiden on debut and although a Group 3 over 1m proved too much to ask on only subsequent run he already looked ready for a further step up in trip; likely contender who holds multiple Group 1 entries in the coming weeks.

Out of Listed winner from family of Group 1 winner Rebecca Sharp; had little to beat as it turned out on Yarmouth debut in September (1m, good) but he did produce a formidable burst in the closing stages; should stay 1m2f and represents a yard that has won four of the last six runnings (also successful in 2009); major player; holds Dante and Derby entries.

Rapidly developed into a smart miler last summer, very close fifth in Group 1 St James's Palace before a Listed win at Newmarket, but disappointing on final 3yo start and on his only run this term; good to soft ground and some ring-rustiness might help explain the latter but connections also now turn to cheekpieces.

Rapidly developed into a smart miler last summer, very close fifth in Group 1 St James's Palace over C&D before a Listed win at Newmarket; a touch disappointing when stepped up to 1m1f at York on final 3yo start but his overall profile is positive and he could easily have more to come in 2023; contender but he was keen in quite a few of his races last year and wouldn't want to be too fresh back from 11 months off; raced only on good/good to firm.

Had little to beat but came right away when upped to 1m2f on final 2yo start on Chelmsford Polytrack; much bigger question asked here but siblings include Group winners at 7f-1m5f in GB and abroad, including Zabeel Dancer in Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan, so potential in pedigree; has Dante entry.

Unbeaten juvenile in novices at Chepstow (7f, firm) and Bath (1m, good to firm) and although no obvious form claims now up in class he looks sure to do better at this trip (dam 1m2f winner out of a half-sister to Arc winner Peintre Celebre); do better.

Won at Chester last July; in the frame at Goodwood (1m3f) and Ascot (1m4f) on next two starts but fared far less well in two hot races afterwards; gelded since; unraced this year or in any race on softer than good, so he has some big questions to answer.
