Form & Verdict

Improving 3yo who looked superb in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly (soft) last month, striding clear for a 5l success (eased close home) and taking his record to 4-6; bidding to emulate St Mark's Basilica, who completed the French Derby and Eclipse double last year; also attempting to become the first French-trained winner of this contest since 1960; has won on good ground; judged on latest performance, he's a very promising colt for the 1m2f division and should continue to do well; strongly respected.

Impressive winner of last year's Prix du Jockey Club who went on to land the Eclipse, relegating Bay Bridge to fifth; third to Luxembourg in the Irish Champion Stakes before ending the campaign with second to Alpinista in the Arc; supplemented for this and likely to be a lot sharper than when 1 1/2l behind Bay Bridge in the Prix Ganay; could be hard to beat.

Form & Verdict

Third of four in this contest 12 months ago; below-par favourite in the Champion Stakes last October, then something looked amiss (eased in latter stages, tailed off) when bidding for a second success in the Saudi Cup; those last two results temper enthusiasm but he's high class on his day and has won three Group 1 races, including the 2021 International at York where he was very impressive; leading player on that form.

Form & Verdict

Champion 2yo last season and has maintained a high level of form this term, most recently winning the Irish 2,000 Guineas where he was far from spectacular but got the job done and took his record to 6-7; creditable second behind stablemate Coroebus in the English version three weeks earlier; raced only at 7f/1m and has mixed messages in his pedigree regarding 1m2f but shapes as if this new trip will suit; stable won this race in 2016 and 2020; big player.

Form dipped in the 2022 International when last seen (had wind surgery since); very solid and high-class performer otherwise, and was champion 2yo in 2021; has form figures of 1112 on the Newmarket tracks, most recently second in last year's 2,000 Guineas; subsequently won the Irish version and ran well in the Eclipse; strongly respected.

Form & Verdict

Highly progressive 1m2f performer who has form figures of 111112 at this trip, most recently second in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot where he failed to justify favouritism but was far from discredited behind State Of Rest who dictated a steady tempo; impressive in the Brigadier Gerard here (on good ground) in May, looking an ideal Eclipse prospect; yard has won this contest six times; remains of strong interest.

Last six starts have been at Group 1 level, including a win in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot (1m2f, good to soft) last October; solid efforts in his first two outings after returning in the spring, but off 80 days since finishing fifth of six in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot (1m2f, good); favoured by the race conditions and has winning form on AW (Tapeta), but has never attempted this far before.

1l second in this race last year (good to firm; 10-11 favourite) when caught out by a fine front-running ride on the winner; beat Adayar and My Prospero to win the Champion Stakes over C&D (good to soft) last October and he had to wait for a clear run when close second to Luxembourg in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh (10.5f, good) last month; key player.

Form & Verdict

Edged ahead close home in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh (on good ground) dropped back in trip six weeks ago, taking record at about 1m2f to 1211; that form has been nicely boosted by the subsequent Royal Ascot wins of State Of Rest and Broome; no match for Mishriff in last year's International but has improved further since and may have even more to offer at this distance; one of two progressive 4yos in the field.

6l second to Mishriff in this race last year (good) and beat High Definition by a neck to win his first Group 1 at the Curragh (1m2f, good) in May; fast ground may not have suited when last of six in the Eclipse last month; even if conditions suit, he has something to find in this red-hot Group 1.
