Form & Verdict

Trained in France until this year; won a 1m Group 3 on the dirt at Jebel Ali in February and he was poorly drawn when well held in a Group 2 at Meydan the following month; he's at least as effective on turf but may need a career best to defy top weight on his return from a gelding operation.

Form & Verdict

Has done well since joining William Haggas this year, winning over 1m2f on good ground at Doncaster and Sandown; shaped as if still in top form when second in his group in the Cambridgeshire two weeks ago; runs off the same mark here and may not have reached his limit.

Form & Verdict

Steadily progressive handicapper, the winner of four of his last five races; rallied well under Louis Steward when scoring at Newbury (1m2f, good) three weeks ago and he should still be competitive after a 6lb rise; tactically versatile; leading contender once more.

Form & Verdict

Ran a stormer in first-time tongue-tie/blinkers when beaten a head in the Britannia at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm) in June; disappointing twice since, although his latest run came in a warm event here at the Ebor meeting; today's step up in trip may suit and he's impossible to rule out.

4yo who is in top hands and has raced 12 times; two of his very best performances have come in big-field handicaps, when going close in last year's Britannia (1m, good to firm) at Royal Ascot and when a head second of 17 over C&D in May (good to soft; denied a clear run); interesting given this ideal scenario; blinkers refitted in place of first-time cheekpieces.

Sole win came in a maiden as 2yo; went very close at Royal Ascot in 2022 (1m) and at Newmarket Guineas meeting this year (1m1f) and he fared easily the best of all five in this field when back at Royal Ascot (1m2f) on latest outing, coming a creditable fifth of 16 in Listed race; tried cheekpieces on last two starts but former blinkers now return; those peak efforts were in large fields when ridden by Frankie Dettori, whereas overall record is mixed, so the issue is not as clearcut as the Ascot result might suggest.

Course winner as 2yo; went very close from off the pace in the Britannia at last year's Royal meeting (1m, good to firm) and underlined what a talented performer he is on his day when narrowly denied by King Of Conquest in 1m1f Newmarket handicap (good to soft; first-time cheekpieces, retained) on reappearance; arguably a little unfortunate having had to wait for a run and that reopposing rival (who meets him on 3lb worse terms now) has boosted the form since; slightly mixed overall record but he hasn't finished out of the first two when partnered by Dettori and is capable of a big run.

Form & Verdict

Runner-up in the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar (1m2f, good) in June and he might have needed the run after three months off when fifth of 13 at Newbury; now wears a hood and he'll be in the mix if that has a positive effect.

Has produced solid efforts when making the frame off this mark on his last two runs (11.4f/1m2f, good to firm/good); however, he's been beaten on his last 11 starts going back to October 2021 and others are more compelling.

Tough campaigner who won in a small field at Ayr (1m2f, good) in August and went down only narrowly at the Western meeting there the following month; creditable fifth of 20 here (1m) yesterday but others have more potential.
