Form & Verdict

2-3 in novice hurdles last season (both wins over 2m3f) and kept on well for second on last month's chase/handicap debut at Uttoxeter (2m6f, soft); moves up in trip again here and could easily have a lot more to offer; respected.

5l winner in a 3m novice handicap chase (soft) on this card last year; lacklustre at Uttoxeter (17l behind two of these) in March but reappearance second of five at Lingfield five weeks ago was much more like it; a very lightly raced 7yo who could have improvement in him as well as major stamina reserves, but he wasn't the quickest over his fences last term and there's a concern that that may put him on the back foot.

Form & Verdict

Not seen since poor performance over the big Aintree fences in April but made the frame in his first four chases, including when second of 20 in Kim Muir at Cheltenham Festival (3m2f, soft; badly hampered in early stages) in March; can make his presence felt if ready to roll here.

Still a maiden over fences (0-12) after a series of notable efforts, including when second of 11 at Doncaster (3m, good to soft; handles soft) in December; not at his best when sixth in the Great Yorkshire Chase there two weeks ago; type to bounce back quickly and unlikely to be far away.

Somehow remains a maiden over fences (0-11) after any number of notable efforts, including here last time when beating all bar Forward Plan; usually jumps well, so omitting ten of the 18 fences wasn't in his favour; deserves a break and the cheekpieces have to be worth a go.

Form & Verdict

Didn't really fire on last month's seasonal debut and is now 0-7 over fences but ran some good races last term, perhaps most notably when second in quite valuable novices' handicap at Uttoxeter (3m, soft); can't be ruled out.

Form & Verdict

Irish point winner who was 2-5 over hurdles last season, including a course win (2m7f, heavy); well beaten over C&D on this month's seasonal/handicap/chase debut but it would be foolish to write him off after that and he may yet have a good future over fences.

Excellent third in Ultima Handicap at last season's Cheltenham Festival but has rather mixed record over fences and didn't run very well in major handicap at Newbury last month; on a workable mark if all goes to plan but not an easy one to predict.

Has plenty of chasing experience for a novice and chose a good day to open his account in this discipline when beating two rivals in the Grade 2 Reynoldstown at Ascot (3m, good to soft); it was not his first notable effort at the Festival when fifth in a very warm opening-day staying handicap (soft) won by Corach Rambler; solid credentials back in novice company.

Runner-up in the 3m Albert Bartlett in 2021 and another rock-solid Festival run when third to Corach Rambler in this race last year (good to soft; when 1lb lower) especially as he bled from the nose; hard to catch on a good day since but was his best self when winning a three-runner Grade 2 novice at Ascot in February and ought to be set fair to go well.

Point winner in his younger days but he's 0-8 over rules fences and has a question mark over current form; useful on his day (finished third in last season's Ultima) but needs to stage a revival.

Impressed when winning comfortably on seasonal/stable debut at Kempton (2m4f, good to soft) in November and ran big race in defeat when clear second here (2m3f, good to soft) this month; moves up in trip today; good chance.
