Beat a subsequent winner with ease in a 2m Exeter novice (good to soft) and was then one of the gambles of the season when justifying strong support in a 2m5f handicap at Kempton's Christmas meeting (soft); didn't win that by far but he would have done but for his inexperience showing in the closing stages (drifted left and right); still a work in progress and deserves a crack at this level; won a bumper on heavy.

Acts on heavy going; unlucky second to Ginny's Destiny at Cheltenham in December (might have won but for a bad error two out) and turned the tables in the Turners there four weeks ago, beating that opponent by 2l; suited by the stiff 2m4f on both occasions and in between he won over 3m (Grade 2); not obviously crying out for this return to a sharper 2m4f, regardless of ground, but otherwise has the best claims on form and is still improving.

Has raced only on ground softer than good; close second to Ginny's Destiny, who received 3lb, in Cheltenham contest (2m4f) in December and might have won but for making a bad mistake two out; that very good effort is flanked by two easy wins, latest in Grade 2 at Warwick (3m; jumped left at last two fences) where he beat a very useful mare by 14l; bypassed the Brown Advisory on Wednesday to go for this option; leading player.

Won the 2m5f Grade 2 novice hurdle on heavy ground at this meeting last year; ran away with a graduation chase at Haydock (2m5f, soft) on second start over fences and may well have added a good novice chase at Cheltenham (2m4f, soft) four weeks ago but for getting the second last all wrong, as he closed all the way to the line thereafter; has a bit more to prove at 3m (third attempt) but an exciting prospect.

Bumper winner who was a well-held fourth on his hurdling debut at Aintree (2m4f, good to soft) but he looked a different horse in comprehensively reversing placings with Mexico (third at Aintree) when a clearcut winner over C&D (soft) in mid-November; that looked good and an RPR of 136 backs it up; respected.

Appears to handle any ground; progressive front-runner who has done very well at Cheltenham (2m4f) for new yard this term, including a defeat of Grey Dawning (who admittedly looked unlucky) for the middle leg of a hat-trick; creditable 2l second to that rival in the Turners most recently, having rallied and kept on gamely; a likely easy lead on this sharper track gives him the possible edge in this latest rematch.

Appears to handle any ground; has form figures of 7111, all over 2m4f at this course, since switched to chasing; held on from Grey Dawning (who might have won but for a bad error) on penultimate occasion, then defied top weight in the useful novice handicap that his very similar stablemate Stage Star won in 2023 before following up in this contest; sound-jumping front-runner who is progressing well and has excellent credentials.

Talented hurdler who is making a better chaser; said to have improved a lot at home after winning a novice handicap on the Old course here in November and gave another bold display from the front in a novice chase on this course in December (both 2m4f on soft) when he didn't face a serious challenge after the runner-up's bad mistake two out; 14lb higher than previous handicap win but has more to give.

Form & Verdict

Has looked good in his last three visits to Chepstow (all on good to soft), winning a bumper and two 2m3f novice hurdles; now on a very different track, but he's a strong galloper and clearly a useful prospect; second in a point on soft/heavy.

Tailed off on handicap hurdle debut on final run last season and has struggled over fences on both runs this term; something to prove but he's had a wind op, which may help him recapture the promise shown when third in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Warwick (2m5f, heavy) last January; not ruled out.

All square with Ginny's Destiny after two previous clashes, though he lost the latest of those by more than 8l here in November; made the most of a good opening at Southwell (2m4f, good) a month ago but he'll need another personal best and by some margin.

Displayed improved form when upped in trip and winning easily in a novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (2m7f, soft) in April; unexposed over staying trips and not ruled out on his chase debut, but this is a tough first assignment in this sphere and he's not bred for fences.

Proved a revelation stepping up to about 3m for the first time when barely coming off the bridle to win a Uttoxeter novice event (soft) a fortnight ago; went about 14l clear at the last before being eased, so a 7lb rise in his mark looks lenient; stable won this race in 2021; considered.

Couldn't win any of his three points but he's comfortably won twice over hurdles (2m/2m4f; good to soft) and his defeat came in a Listed race (soft) won by last week's Grade 1 Tolworth winner Tahmuras; this place can suit front-runners and he needs taking seriously.

Two wins towards the end of last year from first three hurdle starts (2m/2m4f, good to soft) and went very close on handicap debut at Perth (2m4f, good to soft) in April when last seen; Lucinda Russell excels with chasers and this soft-ground point runner-up could improve now tackling fences.

Highly tried the last twice in Grade 2s and kept digging to finish third at Kelso (2m2f, good to soft) most recently and that's strong form, with the front two not disgraced in the Grade 1 Tolworth earlier this season and the fourth winning a Grade 1 novice chase at Punchestown on Tuesday; looks well handicapped and returning to this longer trip is very much in his favour.

Winning pointer who had them well strung out in novices at Lingfield (2m, soft) and Fontwell (2m1f, good to soft), latterly defying a penalty by 5l with the second well clear of the remainder; faces a very different calibre of opposition this time but he's promising; won a point on soft/heavy.

Has won all three of his completed races under rules, easily making all in C&D novice (good to soft) three weeks ago; lack of stamina might have been responsible for a poor run over 2m5f (heavy) at Warwick the time before; in deeper here but he may not have reached his ceiling just yet and he's one to consider on today's handicap debut.

A very promising novice hurdler last season and made an encouraging chase debut in the autumn but two heavy defeats have followed; drying ground would aid his cause here and he still has plenty of time to turn things around but he's a risky option at the moment.

Winning pointer (3m, good) who won his first two starts over hurdles in 2022 (both over 2m3f on good ground); decent fourth on chase debut over 2m4f at Cheltenham in October (good) but lesser run at Exeter last time (3m, good to soft); has potential but soft ground not ideal and best rules form is over shorter.
