Form & Verdict

Grade 1 winner over hurdles as a novice and high-class, if error-prone, chaser in recent seasons; first run since last year's Gold Cup when beaten by useful old-timer Summerville Boy in 2m7f hurdle at Thurles last month; better for that but drop in trip no help.

Seven career wins; alternating between hurdles and fences this season, second in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown in December and beaten a dozen lengths in the Stayers Hurdle; won a match for a Grade 3 chase at Cork over Easter; each-way chance.

Grade 1 novice hurdle winner in 2020 and, having been somewhat patchy over fences, he reverted to hurdles last spring and posted a Grade 2 win (2m4f, yielding to soft) and a near-miss in the Grade 1 Champion Stayers at Punchestown (2m7f, good to yielding); each-way claims on that form but not at the same level on either Irish run this season (fences/hurdles).

Albert Bartlett winner as a novice hurdler and was seen as a Gold Cup prospect after landing the 3m novice chase at Cheltenham in March 2021; turned over at Punchestown the following month and sidelined since; Townend prefers stablemate so best watched.

Unable to fulfill his immense promise due to injury; won the Galmoy Hurdle in January and not disgraced in the Liverpool Hurdle last time but needs to find a bit more; bled in the Cheltenham Gold Cup on his penultimate run.

Very promising in his younger days but missed two years due to an injury and, despite Grade 2 win on most recent hurdles attempt, it's still not clear whether he retains full ability; pulled up (bled from nose) in Cheltenham Gold Cup last month.

Unbeaten in two runs at the Festival in the Albert Bartlett in 2020 and Brown Advisory the following year; has raced just three times, over hurdles, since back from two-year absence and was returning from another layoff when winning at Gowran in January; something very special will be needed if he's to overcome the interruptions and the passing of the years to play a part.

Form & Verdict

Another Coral Cup also-ran but a classy horse when at his best; Grade 1 winner over fences; won Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle in 2021 and decent third to Blazing Khal in that race this time around; fitted with tongue-tie and blinkers at Cheltenham but they're left off here and interesting to see Blackmore booked.

Chased home Hiddenvalley Lake in a Grade 2 before a ninth in the Coral Cup and fair sixth in the Aintree Hurdle since; very well treated if he can build on that down in class but might find this trip on decent ground a bit sharp these days.

Finished fourth in the 2021 Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham; he ran well for a long way when ninth to Langer Dan in last month's Coral Cup but this 10yo is not the force of old and would be a shock winner today.

Form & Verdict

Smart stayer on the Flat and, having been gelded, won Navan handicap over this trip in January; well fancied for the Coral Cup but was beaten 20l; not the biggest and got buffeted about in that so this smaller field should suit but up against it at the weights.

Not the biggest but a talented individual under both codes; bolted up in a 1m3f premier handicap at the Curragh last year; decent second to the 100-rated Taipan in a Killarney conditions in May; did disappoint when odds-on for the maiden hurdle on this card last year.

Useful handicapper over hurdles and Grade 1 novice winner over fences last term when he also chased home this year's Gold Cup winner a couple of times; burst in the Hilly Way at Cork in December and has been given time to get over that.

Smart juvenile hurdler last term; after winning his first start over fences, he was well beaten in a couple of Grade 1s and landed slowly-run Grade 3 at Gowran (2m) when switched back to hurdles; bombed out in the Coral Cup last month; penalised but leading player if bouncing back.

Versatile ground-wise; creditable second behind highly notable rivals at Naas (Grade 3) and Cork (Grade 2) since returned to chasing; filled same position in the Triumph Hurdle here two years ago; campaigned mostly at about 2m but pedigree suggests this return to 2m4f is well worth exploring and, being the youngest horse in the field, he has the potential to rate higher still; interesting contender.
