Form & Verdict

Just a single win since his 3yo days (off 2lb higher last July) and, while he handles soft ground, he could probably do without too much rain; otherwise his yard has been among the winners and he has the vastly experienced Mark Winn up.

Good third off 12lb higher in this race (soft) last year but he was out of sorts in final three runs for Mark Walford last summer; with new yard now and he needs a major revival after 246 days off; cheekpieces back on.

Big prices and well held in three spread-out AW runs to date; isn't obviously well treated now handicapping but this half-brother to four winners is worth tracking in the market.

Sole win came on Polytrack and he hasn't been in any form this year; this is easier than he's used to, back down from 2m, but he's been kept to fast surfaces and may not want too much rain.

Generally very disappointing this season but arrested his decline when staying on well to take second behind bang-in-form rival at Chelmsford (1m6f) a fortnight ago and remains very well handicapped on older form.

Form & Verdict

Turf wins have all come around this time of year and he's back on a fair mark; offered more in the cheekpieces last time and the step back up in trip will suit, while he wouldn't mind the ground easing.

Has generally struggled since his C&D win in December 2022 but he was runner-up at Thirsk on his penultimate run last season and he now returns to Tapeta off a very dangerous mark; yard is in decent form and he needs checking in market on return.

Race didn't pan out her way on soft ground at Ripon in May and she did nothing wrong in defeat last time; last summer's win came off a similar mark and she's on the shortlist.

Dual Tapeta winner in the winter who showed she can do it on turf when going close at Nottingham last month (good to firm); sister Rock N Roll Pinkie won on slow going for the yard this spring, which would give hope should the ground ease.

Has a patchy record and both wins have come on AW but she returned from a break with a close call at Nottingham (1m6f, good to firm) in June; this is a deeper race but she pulled clear with the winner last time and is only 1lb higher here; respected.

Four wins have all come at this time of year, including over C&D off the same mark last summer; she pulled hard when below-par last time, though, and three poor efforts on ground featuring the word 'soft' would be a worry should the rain arrive.

Has crept up the weights in defeat, now being 3lb higher than when second over C&D a month ago; takes some winding up and is well suited by easy courses with long home straights, so is fine on that count, but might not want too much rain.

Verdict

Significant easing of the ground would be a concern for a few of these but wouldn’t pose any problems for the consistent TURNER GIRL. She’s preferred to Myboymax, whose turf wins have all come in high summer.[Graham Wheldon]
