Form & Verdict

Havana Grey colt who was purchased for 625,000gns in April; made a very promising debut at Nottingham (6f, good to soft) two weeks ago, overcoming a very tardy start to justify evens favouritism; open to any amount of progress and could well prove a Group performer; respected.

Close second at Newcastle (AW) on debut, then went one better at Hamilton (6f, good to soft) where he comfortably beat three rivals; unexposed but has much more on his plate at this level.

Group 2 Richmond at Glorious Goodwood (6f, soft) was not for the first time he was slow to break, but he saw that race out with a purpose to finish clear second behind Vandeek, who gave that form an almighty boost when winning last weekend's Group 1 in France; no question that he sets the standard back in this Group 3 and going up to 7f should be a good thing (has Group 1 or 2 entries from 6f to 1m); both turf starts on softer than good.

Form & Verdict

Has raced only on ground firmer than good; won at Bath on second outing; big prices for his Group assignments, seeming to run well (40-1 third) behind Jasour in the 6f July Stakes latest; needs to show he can back it up.

Form & Verdict

Has raced at only 5f; scored twice in the north in May; not disgraced at Royal Ascot or Sandown since but those Listed defeats expose his limitations to some extent; new trip needs to bring about improvement.

Beat the smart Big Evs on his second run but was behind that rival at Royal Ascot and has since had his limitations further exposed; while he didn't run at all badly in the Gimcrack, others appeal more here.

Form & Verdict

Looked unsuited by drop to 5f in the Super Sprint at Newbury (good to soft) most recently; better judged on his useful 6f form, namely a success in the Woodcote at Epsom (good to firm) and sixth in the Coventry at Royal Ascot (good); could go well.

Made it 2-2 in the valuable Woodcote at Epsom (6f, good to firm) and held his own in what's already looking a strong Coventry at Royal Ascot; that entitles him to persuasive form claims at this level provided he can lay up back to 5f.

Showcasing colt who cost 100,000gns as a yearling; 15-2, made an impressive debut at Newbury (6f, good) just 12 days ago, making virtually all and stretching clear in the closing stages for a 5l success; the form is still open to examination but he won in the style of a useful prospect; interesting.

Soft ground excuses his Richmond flop behind Vandeek; that is flanked by a ready win at Newbury (6f) and good third in York Listed event (5f); however, has a lot to find on ratings at this tougher level.

Won well at Newbury (6f, good) on debut, looking a bright prospect, and that form has been boosted; soft surface was likely to blame for his Richmond flop at Goodwood and he remains of interest; could well confirm the initial promise, provided he copes with this drop to 5f.

All starts at 5f on good/firmer; creditable third in Listed grade at Sandown most recently, following a novice win at same venue; faces stiff task on first 6f attempt, being well down this pack on ratings.

Limitations became somewhat exposed over sprint trips last term, following Sandown success in June; gelded since last run; something to prove in this new scenario (upped to 7f for AW debut).

Touch exposed since his Sandown novice success but has been keeping good company, most recently eighth (two places behind Media Shooter) in 6f sales race at the Ebor festival here; has a more realistic chance on handicap debut and could go well.

Perhaps not seen to best effect on soft ground at Glorious Goodwood (6f Group 2) and he should reverse previous Sandown placings with Hackman on these better terms; has plenty of others to worry about, however, and 5f might be his trip.
