Form & Verdict

Had a fine year, Grade 2 novice hurdle winner in the spring and going for a four-timer over fences; has beaten Solness last twice and can do so again, though front-runner wouldn't want it testing; track should suit.

Grade 2 winner over hurdles; beaten on chase debut but hasn't looked back in winning his next five; tackles a different calibre of opposition than in his Grade 3s (2m-2m2f) and a lack of recent match practice might not be ideal given this race will take no prisoners, especially as he likes to be up there; however, no ground worries and trained by Willie Mullins, so hard to rule out.

Form & Verdict

Likeable sort rated 128 and has nice bit of experience but unlikely winner; well beaten by Kerry National runner-up Salvador Ziggy on last chase start at Tramore.

Let down by his jumping when favourite for a handicap hurdle at Thurles last time; useful Flat/chase form before that; should be thereabouts of jumping better.

Smart hurdler fit from good run at Galway where placed in handicap off 136; won a point but stiff task on chase debut; testing ground no bother.

Maiden after eight chase starts but he's improving and his jumping was more assured than has sometimes been the case when a very solid third with no excuses to Unexpected Party in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham (2m, soft; first-time cheekpieces added, retained here); has a 6lb turnaround for nearly 6l but likely to need a shade more for this sharper test if he's to reverse the placings.

Not always the slickest of jumpers but he's translated his hurdle ability to fences in recent starts, chasing home Hunter's Yarn in a maiden at Fairyhouse before splitting Madara and Solness in a competitive handicap at Leopardstown (2m1f, soft) last month; has first-time cheekpieces combined with the tongue-tie he's worn lately.

Had been struggling for form but was in the process of running a big race when coming down at the last over C&D in a race won by The Folkes Tiara (The Big Chap second) and creditable effort when runner-up in a beginners' at Fairyhouse; not the slickest jumper and could do with ironing out the errors out but probably has one in from this sort of mark.

Runner-up in two valuable 2m handicaps this season, the latter at Doncaster (good) in January; last month's Cheltenham Festival defeat is not viewed harshly and he should be fine on today's ground; respected.

Front-runner who was collared only late on by Triple Trade over C&D (good to soft) on reappearance in November; did too much early when fading into a well-held fourth behind Madara here in December and wasted no time showing he's still in good form when second at Doncaster (2m, good) at the end of January; should give it a good shot but this isn't an easy race in which to pull off his forcing tactics.
