Form & Verdict

Won on soft-ground debut and followed up on good to firm at the expense of high-class Big Evs; limitations exposed in the meantime but this is a sharp drop in class from Group races.

Beat the smart Big Evs on his second run but was behind that rival at Royal Ascot and has since had his limitations further exposed; while he didn't run at all badly in the Gimcrack, others appeal more here.

Form & Verdict

Bagged a notable pay cheque in a sales race at Naas (6f, soft; first win under similar conditions); below par the last twice, though it was a Group 3 at Kempton last time and he now has a 4lb pull with Hala Emaraaty whom he was virtually upsides.

Bagged a notable pay cheque in a sales race at Naas (6f, soft; first win under similar conditions) but now has to bounce back from a modest run at Newmarket when conditions were easier than the official good to firm (ground was changed to good after heavy rain); has a bit to find even on his Irish form.

Form & Verdict

Has faced some stiff tasks since winning a 5f maiden at the May meeting here (on soft) and appreciated the drop into nursery company when a closing third from an outside stall here four weeks ago (good to soft); expect more positive tactics this time from stall 1 and can go close; seventh of 22 in a sales race at York on only previous run at 6f.

Sole win came over 5f at Chester (soft) in May and ran well returned to that C&D (good to soft) last month; not disgraced in 6f sales race at York two starts ago; hard to dismiss at this level.

Highly tried since winning a maiden over C&D (soft) in May, but twice placed in Listed company and not disgraced when seventh of the 22 runners in the valuable sales contest at York (6f, good to firm) last time; makes his nursery debut, but the outside stall does make things a bit tricky.

Form & Verdict

Has won twice here, a maiden over 6f (good) and a novice over 7f (good to soft); it was over that longer trip when going in again at York (nursery on good to soft), making all as his way; 3lb rise fair but he'll do well to dominate this time from the widest stall.

Form & Verdict

Found further improvement to win a five-runner nursery at Newbury (6f, good to soft) and coped okay with the soft ground when second to an easy winner at Doncaster (same mark); should be thereabouts.

Form & Verdict

The form of his third at Newmarket in August reads very well but hasn't progressed from there and Yarmouth last time was especially underwhelming; nurseries are now the way to go but he's unraced on ground this soft.

Well behind Hala Emaraaty on debut; finished close up in a 7f maiden here on good to soft and the ground was heavy when beating only one home on nursery debut at Haydock; may face similar conditions here.

Progressed well in novice/maidens as he went up in trip, going 5f, 6f then 7f; the ground was heavy when coming up short on handicap debut at Haydock (7f; fav) and has been gelded during the winter; probably on a good mark.

He has improved with each of his three starts, most recently finishing a front-running second of 12 at Chester a fortnight ago (7f, good to soft); unexposed at the trip and one to consider now handicapping.

Verdict

Most of these have chances. HACKMAN has run well on both his visits here and he’s much better drawn than when close up last time in his first nursery. Kingswood Flyer should run well again with no ground issues and earns second preference ahead of Golden Trick.[Alistair Jones]
