Front-runner; hurdle winner on good to soft but suited by slower surfaces and this winter's improvement over fences has come on soft and heavy; has moved steadily in the right direction at 2m4f-2m6f but this is a tough task.

A combination of new cheekpieces and the return to a staying distance (just under 3m; soft/heavy) has triggered a return to form in going back-to-back in handicap chases for mares; has gone up 5lb for the latest and that perhaps didn't take a great deal of winning with her two rivals hindered by their jumping; should give her running nonetheless.

Dual hurdle winner (2m4f/2m5f) who has made a solid start to her chasing career this season, finishing third in three handicaps (3m-3m2f); drops back in trip with first-time cheekpieces here; has good chance at the weights and will presumably be ridden very positively.

Not firing on all cylinders this season but has become well handicapped, and seemed to be travelling pretty well in second place before slipping and unseating rider on home turn at Wincanton (3m1f, soft) recently.

Seems versatile regarding trip/ground and has become well handicapped but was unable to lay a glove on Juniper when second at Taunton (2m5f, soft) last month and needs to up her game here.

Winner and twice runner-up (including in this race last year) in three C&D starts; went off the boil in late spring and she didn't look about to take advantage of a handy mark at Doncaster in December; however the return to this track is a plus and she could turn things round.

Two chase wins over about 2m6f last winter but she showed something new when easily accounting for her four rivals over about 3m at Chepstow (soft) on reappearance three weeks ago; 9lb higher today and back down in trip but she did it well last time.

Two chase wins last winter over shorter; hasn't looked the strongest stayer in three runs over 3m under rules and she'll need to be cherry ripe to take this back from 232 days on the sidelines.

Verdict

Eureka Creek (second choice) could still have untapped potential over fences, while Marsh Wren had a good strike-rate over hurdles and is an interesting recruit to chasing. However, the most appealing option is ANTI BRIDGIE, who was a promising novice hurdler last season and may be seen in an even better light over fences.[Chris Wilson]
