Went very close at 9-2 on this month's debut at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy); withdrawn there last Wednesday having unseated jockey and run loose before the start (6-4 at the time); leading form claims for top stable, who won a division of this race last year with subsequent Oaks winner Soul Sister.

Second in four of her first five starts, including twice on Kempton Polytrack, before easily making all at evens from a 125-1 shot in a novice at Ffos Las (1m4f, heavy) in August; tailed off on handicap debut at Newbury (1m4f, soft) on latest start; wore cheekpieces on last four outings and now it's a visor; needs big overall improvement.

Unraced on firmer than good; second in four of her first five starts, before easily making all at evens from a 125-1 shot in a seven-runner novice at Ffos Las (1m4f, heavy) three weeks ago; wore cheekpieces on last three outings; this is her first handicap, off what does not look a great mark.

Her recent debut fifth at Leicester (1m, good to soft) wasn't without promise and she's open to improvement, but a sizeable step forward is needed and the yard's chief hope may be Hector Crouch's mount Games People Play.

Promising debut when third of seven at 5-1 at Goodwood (1m1f, soft) 12 days ago; there can be optimism this 170,000gns yearling will improve and her trainer has a fine record in this race; respected.

Badly hampered here one year ago in her only AW race; eighth attempt, and her first in this third type of headgear, when off the mark from the front in a novice at Nottingham (1m6f, soft) two weeks ago; there was limited improvement in that performance and she needs a great deal more today.

Well established as a fair maiden, good second at Carlisle (1m3f, soft) in second-time cheekpieces on penultimate start; a lesser show in blinkers one month ago sees her in a visor today; probably placed at best even if straight back to form.

Well established as fair maiden, good second of 14 at Carlisle (1m3f, soft) 18 days ago in second-time cheekpieces; now tries blinkers; others bring greater hope of improvement but she should be seriously involved.

Form & Verdict

Close third on debut at Newmarket (7f, soft) in August and bounced back from lesser run at Ffos Las when third at Newmarket (1m, good) latest; others probably have greater potential but she can give another good account.

Left last moth's debut (7f, AW) well behind when fourth at Southwell (7f, AW) last time; others have stronger form but she should continue to progress now upped to 1m and is not ruled out.

Some promise in a 7f fillies' maiden at Southwell one year ago (for Karl Burke); absent until a low-key stable debut at Catterick (6f, soft) last month; risky now making her handicap debut.

First foal; unraced dam from fine family and is a sister to 7f 2yo Group 1 Maybe (dam of 2,000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior); check the betting but this looks a tough opening assignment.

First foal; dam unraced sister to winners Maybe (7f 2yo Group 1; dam of 2,000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior) and Fluff (1m; dam of St Leger winner Continuous); by a leading sire and a top-class damline but sold for only 30,000gns in February; still worth a market check.

Verdict

The Gosden yard won a division of this 12 months ago with subsequent Oaks winner Soul Sister and her stablemate BEELEY gets the nod having gone very close at Nottingham on her debut. Ralph Beckett has a good record in this race and Goodwood third Games People Play may be the chief danger, although the well-bred Alacrity could take a big step forward on this second start.[Ben Hutton]
