Form & Verdict

Faced with his stiffest stamina test yet when delivering a dominant display over C&D (soft) in March, coming clear late on under Bruce Lynn; returns with plenty in his favour and a 5lb higher mark might not be beyond him.

Won this last season (soft) off 3lb lower when returning from a similar break and went in again at Carlisle in April (heavy) before struggling in the Scottish National; likeable type who runs this track well but would prefer easier ground ideally.

2-3 over fences at Ayr and his fifth chase win came at Carlisle (3m, heavy) 13 days ago; missed this race last year because of good ground, so the furthest he's been is still 3m2f, over which he twice strode out well to win on soft at Kelso; has a career-high mark but the longer trip is interesting.

Won off this mark at Kelso (3m2f, soft) last October and ran okay when a Listed third there on his latest chase start; excused subsequent below-par run over hurdles (chasing is his game nowadays); Kelso brings out the best in him but he's also run well here and could have a part to play.

Form & Verdict

Formerly with Paul Nicholls and makes stable debut after a 630-day absence; thorough stayer who won over 3m5f at Sandown (good to soft) in his latest campaign before finishing second in the Welsh National (soft); new trainer can get them fit at home but this 10yo is likely to be back over longer trips sooner or later; tongue-tie is new.

Stout stayer who was runner-up in the 2021 Welsh National; off for 20 months after next outing but quickly found his form for new yard and he was the freshest horse in the race when galloping on relentlessly at Newbury (3m2f, heavy) ten days ago; however, a penalty takes him back to a career-high mark which will be hard to overcome at this level.

Form & Verdict

Record of 4-13 over fences; looked a lost cause for much of a four-runner race here (2m7f, good to soft; made mistakes) in March but got up in the dying strides; that enhanced his good record here and he's readily forgiven his defeat in the Scottish National on latest start; capable of showing his true form after an absence.

Looked as good as ever when winning from the front at regular haunt Kelso (2m5f, soft) in February and last month's defeat over the big fences here is not viewed harshly; 3m1f on good ground will also suit; can make his presence felt.

Won over 3m at Wetherby (soft) last December and runner-up in two of her three subsequent runs; however, has never raced beyond 3m and being 5lb out of the weights is no help.

Solid campaign last season, featuring a handicap win at Wetherby (3m, soft) last December, and she could improve for her recent comeback outing at Kelso; has something to find with the Galia Des Liteaux but no surprise to see her give a good account.

Form & Verdict

Has his own way of doing things but he's compiled some profile with his standout performances in winning two Ultimas at the Cheltenham Festival (3m1f on good to soft and soft) and last season's Grand National; mightily impressive at Aintree to earn this 13lb higher mark; could still be capable of better and he's fine in small fields.

Sole run on heavy was a win on rules debut; tasted success at two Cheltenham Festivals, coming from well off the pace, before the even sweeter prize of this race last year when he was never far away and had zero alarms before some idling in front after grabbing total control at the final fence (much earlier than usual); last month's Cheltenham Gold Cup (soft) seemed to show the ceiling of his ability, when it looked exceedingly hard work for him from the final fence, but that was while finishing an excellent third with career-best form; 13lb higher than last year but still well in and should go well if the Gold Cup did not make him dig too deep.

Has an unconventional streak but his spring form in the last two seasons cannot be faulted, having won the Ultima in 2022 and 2023 (3m1f; good to soft and soft) and the Grand National (4m2f) in some style last April, despite taking up the running further from home than usual; the limit of his ability has yet to be established and it would be no surprise to see him loom up late on.

Form & Verdict

Standout performance came in first-time cheekpieces when winning well at Cheltenham (3m2f, soft) on New Year's Day; below that level next time and pulled up in the Kim Muir when tried in a visor; not on a bad mark and cheekpieces return, but his record fresh isn't overly encouraging.

Runs off the same mark as when close second in higher grade at Ascot (3m, good to soft) in February; returns with trainer's horses running well and he's not ruled out, but he's been pulled up/well beaten on his reappearance outings in each of the last three seasons.

10yo whose form is up and down but he's won over Cheltenham's stiff, extended 3m2f and has hinted on occasions that this sort of test may suit; stayed on well for second at Ascot (3m, good to soft) in February; prominent when falling at Cheltenham Festival last time; not ruled out each-way.
