Form & Verdict

Faced with his stiffest stamina test yet when delivering a dominant display over C&D (soft) in March, coming clear late on under Bruce Lynn; returns with plenty in his favour and a 5lb higher mark might not be beyond him.

Probably okay on good, usually seen on softer; good record here; can throw in the odd mistake and was slow to warm up behind Coopers Cross at Doncaster four starts back; unseated at the first over hurdles in March but bounced straight back with a dominant performance over fences at Kelso (3m2f, soft) four weeks ago, striding clear on the run-in under Bruce Lynn and that was his stiffest test of stamina before today; up 5lb but considered.

Form & Verdict

Formerly with Paul Nicholls and makes stable debut after a 630-day absence; thorough stayer who won over 3m5f at Sandown (good to soft) in his latest campaign before finishing second in the Welsh National (soft); new trainer can get them fit at home but this 10yo is likely to be back over longer trips sooner or later; tongue-tie is new.

First run over these fences; runner-up in the 2021 Welsh National for Paul Nicholls and this 10yo returned from a very long absence with a creditable second of six on his stable debut at Kelso (3m2f, soft) in October; he's on a competitive mark on his old form and is not ruled out.

9yo who reappeared with a career best when winning at Sandown (3m5f, good to soft) in December, before a good second in the Welsh National (3m6f, soft) off this 4lb higher mark; won over hurdles here and has leading claims if his fine form continues; non-runner in November due to good ground.

Form & Verdict

Record of 4-13 over fences; looked a lost cause for much of a four-runner race here (2m7f, good to soft; made mistakes) in March but got up in the dying strides; that enhanced his good record here and he's readily forgiven his defeat in the Scottish National on latest start; capable of showing his true form after an absence.

Nearly won both his chase starts here (autumn 2020); easily best of his three runs this season came in a four-runner Listed race at Kelso (2m7f, good to soft) seven weeks ago when he looked a lost cause three out (including after mistakes five and four out) but snatched a win in the final strides; back up 4lb today; had already proved himself at 3m2f on good last March but he races a bit freely, which may catch him out.

Form & Verdict

Won over 3m at Wetherby (soft) last December and runner-up in two of her three subsequent runs; however, has never raced beyond 3m and being 5lb out of the weights is no help.

Solid campaign last season, featuring a handicap win at Wetherby (3m, soft) last December, and she could improve for her recent comeback outing at Kelso; has something to find with the Galia Des Liteaux but no surprise to see her give a good account.

Form & Verdict

Has his own way of doing things but he's compiled some profile with his standout performances in winning two Ultimas at the Cheltenham Festival (3m1f on good to soft and soft) and last season's Grand National; mightily impressive at Aintree to earn this 13lb higher mark; could still be capable of better and he's fine in small fields.

Won the Ultima at Cheltenham (3m1f, soft) in March for the second year running and followed up in the Grand National (4m2f, soft); idled in front each time which suggests he could have more left in the tank form-wise, and his comeback defeat at Kelso last month is of little concern given his previous reappearance record; however, he needs a clear career best today.

Never-nearer fourth to Le Milos at Newbury (3m2f); ran respectably over 3m5f at Warwick last term and loudly demands another go at a marathon distance, now that his strong finish from well off the pace has won him the 3m1f Ultima Handicap at Cheltenham for the second year in succession; due to go up 10lb, so he's the pick of the weights; has his own way of doing things and plotting his way through the pack will need luck, but he gave probably his most professional display last time (on soft) and brings plenty of positives.

Form & Verdict

Standout performance came in first-time cheekpieces when winning well at Cheltenham (3m2f, soft) on New Year's Day; below that level next time and pulled up in the Kim Muir when tried in a visor; not on a bad mark and cheekpieces return, but his record fresh isn't overly encouraging.
