Form & Verdict

Could do with the ground drying out for this chase debut but he's well handicapped on the peak of his hurdle form and the fire still burns after making the frame in the 2m4f handicap at Royal Ascot this summer.

Third of 19 at Royal Ascot (2m4f) last June is easily the pick of his last six Flat starts and he's now 3lb lower; won four-runner chase debut in November but well beaten next time and absent 113 days since; ran creditably on sole AW start but that was 2021; others look more solid.

Last season over hurdles was a bit of a struggle but he made the frame in the 2m4f handicap at Royal Ascot during the summer and, while it looked unlikely at times, he stayed on best to make a successful chase debut at Wincanton (1m7f, soft); this stronger race will test his mettle but he probably needs this sort of trip nowadays.

Form & Verdict

Pushed the Greatwood winner Iberico Lord to a head on heavy ground in a Stratford novice hurdle in April; chase debut at Ffos Las (2m, good to soft) was underwhelming but he raced keenly and probably needed the run.

Did well to finish second at Hereford (2m, good) in December having made a bad mid-race mistake and he won at Musselburgh next time (2m, good to soft; ground changed to soft after race); he could do with settling better over today's extra 2f but this 6yo may continue to progress for his top yard.

Dual hurdle winner who was second in two four-runner chases towards end of last year, more recently at Hereford (2m, good) behind a next-time-out winner; did well to recover from very bad jumping error that day and has good claims off same mark here.

Form & Verdict

In good form over hurdles in the spring off slightly higher marks; only 13-2 for an Ascot handicap on recent chase debut and he reportedly lost his confidence after suffering early interference; better expected; goes on most ground.

Improving chaser who has won three of his last four and again impressed with his jumping en route to a clearcut success at Plumpton two weeks ago (2m3f, good); could be progressive enough to deal with the 6lb rise but now tackles some tried-and-trusted handicappers at this loftier level; unquestionably needs his best form yet.

Progressive chaser with a course win on the board and produced his best form yet with a workmanlike display at Sandown (2m4f, good to soft); no reason why he shouldn't have a major say off 3lb higher.

Has improved with each of his five runs over fences and won in first-time cheekpieces (retained since) at Plumpton (2m3f, soft) two outings ago; another good run when second to Kotmask there (2m3f, soft) last time; every chance he'll continue to progress and he could be in the mix once more.

Form & Verdict

Races prominently and has an excellent strike-rate of 8-15 over hurdles; ran close to his best when fourth in a big-field handicap at Cheltenham last month; could easily take to fences and do well; ideally wants good ground.

Back to form with neck second of five in novice handicap chase at Kempton (2m2f, good to soft) last month; also effective over 2m4f and on soft ground; there's a suspicion that latest performance (when he lost a shoe) represents strong form and this 7yo novice could be in the mix once more.

Better could have been expected in Grade 2 here (2m4f, soft) three weeks ago; however, there was promise in his first two chase starts at Wincanton (1m7f, soft; in front when unseating two out) and here (2m, good to soft; third of four in Grade 2), and he remains of interest now back in a handicap.

Appeared to perform well on bare figures in similar event here (2m; second chase attempt) two months ago but was no match for the two main protagonists; even though rating has increased a touch, still has the worst chance at the weights.
