Took form to whole new level when winning easily at Worcester (2m7f, soft) in July and both subsequent runs were pefectly respectable; this will probably be the slowest ground he has encountered but he has a fighting chance if he handles it.

Form & Verdict

Largely solid record over fences includes form figures of 1112 this season, creditable second at Aintree (3m1f, soft; beaten by smart prospect) most recently; major contender off unaltered mark.

Largely solid record over fences includes form figures of 1112 (over 2m4f-3m1f) this season; latest effort came at Aintree (soft) behind the very useful Giovinco, who has since performed well at Grade 2 level; may still have further progress in him; respected off unchanged mark.

Form & Verdict

Easily won similar event over C&D (good to soft) on chase debut, albeit was possibly aided by the departure of the favourite; not disgraced at Carlisle (2m4f, soft) since; still unexposed over fences and his overall record at Kelso augurs well.

Form & Verdict

Point/bumper/hurdle winner; had wind surgery (his second) since last run; not solid on his chase form for David Pipe but market support should be heeded on debut for new yard; also declared 3:25 Huntingdon.

Had wind surgery last August and is 4-4 for his new yard since; first three of those were over about 3m-3m2f on good to soft but he coped admirably with a move up to 4m1f on heavy in the Eider at Newcastle last time, confidently ridden to challenge three out and to overcome an error two out by getting up close home; up another 8lb but remains capable of better and may well extend his winning sequence.

Had wind surgery last August and is 3-3 for his new yard since; edged it in a fine duel over 3m2f at Carlisle on first occasion, followed by two wins at about 3m and he drew 11l clear from four out when a heavily backed favourite at Musselburgh on latest; all those were on good to soft but he did well on soft to heavy in Ireland early in career; up another 11lb and markedly in trip too, but he's a rising force and may well have more in the tank.

Sprinted well clear of the others with a well-handicapped rival at Market Rasen (3m, good to soft) last month and is now 2-2 for Brian Ellison; latest 4lb rise does not look excessive and he can complete the hat-trick.

Course regular; 0-7 over fences and competes from 2lb out of the weights today but ran well in defeat behind an unexposed one here (2m7f, soft) two months ago and has a fair chance.

Verdict

The return to Kelso may well prompt further improvement from BRANDY MCQUEEN, who has form figures of 1221 in handicaps (hurdles/fences) at this course. Universal Folly, who has a rock-solid record this season, is second choice ahead of Tiger Orchid who ties in with that rival on last-time-out running.[Steve Boow]
