Form & Verdict

Record over hurdles was patchy and he's following a similar pattern over fences, with his second at Wincanton (2m4f, heavy) comfortably the pick of his three starts; trip/ground fine so possibilities if on a going day.

Ran well in defeat at Lingfield (2m4f, good to soft) two runs back but this regressive veteran has become very inconsistent; others safer.

Form & Verdict

Remains in same ownership despite leaving Christian Williams; promising third on chase debut at Fakenham (2m5f, good) and replacing the tongue-tie with blinkers perhaps backfired next time; retains potential and could be interesting despite his absence.

Placed over both hurdles and fences when with Christian Williams; returned from almost a year off for his first run for this trainer, when second of five in a Lingfield handicap chase (2m7f, heavy) recently; up 2lb but looks a player.

Absent since soundly beaten at Taunton last March on final run for Christian Williams, which made it 0-7 under rules; however, before that he was a promising third on chase debut at Fakenham (2m5f, good) and he was runner-up in a 3m point in 2021 (yielding to soft); his new trainer can ready one after a layoff and he's an interesting contender, all the more so if well backed.

Form & Verdict

Irish point winner; pulled up in his first three handicaps (one over fences) but was better for the blinkers when a one-paced third over 2m4f here last month (soft); should be fine over this far and fighting chance should the headgear work again.

Pulled up in first three handicaps last year (including chase debut in December) but got back on track in first-time blinkers at Leicester (2m4f, soft) last month, rallying for third; this 3m point winner could build on that latest run now back up in trip if the headgear maintains its effect.

Form & Verdict

Won twice over a bit further at Huntingdon early last year and when pulled up in May he had tack issues; however, it was jumping issues that held him back on his belated return at Fontwell and will need to be sharper here.

Beaten 12l into second on chase debut at Bangor (2m4f, heavy) but then only sixth at this track (just behind Has Troke) before taking a heavy early fall last time; could yet come good off this sort of mark but needs to find some consistency.

Form & Verdict

Has not had the smoothest of seasons (fallen/refused/unseated) but it all came together when shedding maiden status with a narrow success over C&D two weeks ago (soft); whether he'll be as good again remains to be seen but a 4lb rise isn't too damaging.

Made it two wins from his last three starts when scoring at Leicester (2m4f, soft) on March 8 and fair third at Uttoxeter (2m4f, heavy) a fortnight ago, when behind two horses with official marks of 120 and 121; he drops back into a 0-110 this afternoon and could play a leading role.

Verdict

All these struggle with consistency and come with risks. Market confidence would be welcomed after his break, but CAMULUS had flashes of form for Christian Williams that makes him of strong interest off this low a mark. Moodofthemoment was better for blinkers here last time and he’s second choice ahead of Nine Nine Nine.[Alistair Jones]
