2000 Guineas Betting Odds
Run between the end of April and the beginning of May, the 2000 Guineas kicks off the Classic season, and turns all attention towards the flat. It is one of two showpieces, along with the 1000 Guineas, at Newmarket’s biggest meeting of the season, and when the markets for the 2000 Guineas odds are beginning to emerge with more clarity, GG will provide the best odds and tips for the 2025 renewal.
Odds table to follow
Who are this Year’s 2000 Guineas Favourites?
Many punters will still look for value elsewhere, but the 2000 Guineas favourites will still be the most popular from a betting perspective, with bookies’ liabilities going through the roof on a particularly well-backed one.
The 2025 renewal of the 2000 Guineas is still some way off, as it is not held until the following flat season. As yet, we do not know which horses will emerge to be front-runners for the race, but these will start to emerge as the big juvenile races are played out throughout the calendar.
Who are this Year’s 2000 Guineas Underdogs?
At this stage, every runner is an underdog, as the two-year-olds are yet to compete in any significant races prior to the 2025 flat season. The 2000 Guineas odds will only begin to form once some horses have staked claim towards the end of 2024.
Last Year’s 2000 Guineas Odds
The 2000 Guineas saw a number of favourites disappoint in 2024, as the winner, Notable Speech drifted significantly having been among the leading chances for the race in the build-up. He ended up winning at 16/1, as can be seen below.
Betting Strategies for the 2000 Guineas
Betting on the 2000 Guineas does not have to be one dimensional. Though every punter’s goal is to ultimately pick the winner of the race, you can make money in numerous different ways if you wish to find alternate methods throughout the betting.
Outright Winner
The outright winner is the most popular form of betting market for every single race on the calendar around the world. The market is the simplest to understand for bettors of any level of experience, as all you are doing is placing your money on the horse you believe will win the race. The 2025 favourite will be the most-backed runner and cost the bookies the greatest liabilities.
Each Way
Many players will look to utilise each way bets if they are not a fan of a short-priced favourite. The 2000 Guineas will likely see a double-figure field, as it has done for every renewal in the last decade. This will mean at least nine other runners competing for places between second and sometimes all the way up to fifth depending on the bookmakers terms and conditions.
Draw Biases
Newmarket’s straight Rowley Mile is very susceptible to a draw bias. The difficulty for those wishing to win money on racing at Newmarket is that this bias does not always show up until the day itself. As such, although there is racing in the build-up to both the 2000 Guineas and 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, do not necessarily trust this for the next race day as this can very easily change.
Accumulators
The 2000 Guineas is just one race in itself, so you cannot put a win accumulator on unless you are backing horses in other Newmarket races on the day. The way of placing multiple bets on the race could include picking the forecast or tricast, although these are not necessarily accumulators.
2000 Guineas Odds of Past 10 Winners
The last ten winners do not provide as much hope for favourite backers as they may do for other races. Only two favourites from the 2000 Guineas odds in the last decade have emerged victoriously, while six horses have won the race in the last ten years starting at odds of 5/1 or bigger.
