Racecourse Guide

Home to the Grand National, Aintree is one of the top National Hunt venues in the circuit. Despite various modifications to the National Course, the race still offers the ultimate challenge to both horse and rider and attracts a massive worldwide audience. Fences the like of Becher’s Brook, The Chair and The Canal Turn have helped to capture the public’s imagination of the race and have become household names in their own right. The Mildmay and hurdles courses stage all but five of Aintree’s races, and the Mildmay Course is a flat track with two long straights. It is imperative horses are fast and accurate at their obstacles at both courses.

Dining, Hospitality & Facilities

For a finer, premium experience there are plenty of hospitality options available. There is a choice of restaurant packages, each offering a base for the day with views of the course or the Winners’ Enclosure; see the racecourse website for current packages and what they include.

If you’re part of a bigger group and are looking for a bit more privacy the racecourse also offers private boxes for hire. There are two different options to choose from (Premier and VIP), with prices starting from £162 per person. Each box includes a minimum three course meal, tea and coffee plus a private balcony overlooking the racecourse.

Tickets

Outside the Grand National Festival, Aintree offers a range of enclosures, from General Admission to reserved seats and roof terraces. Options include:

  • General Admission – Gives you access to all public areas, including unreserved seating in the grandstands.
  • Platinum Lounge – An over 21’s suite with music and entertainment in the lounge. Tickets for this lounge include a glass of champagne and a racecard voucher.
  • Princess Royal Seats & Gallery – This is an over-21s reserved seating area that guarantees excellent views of the racecourse, and is in close proximity to the Finishing Post. It also offers a private bar, big screen viewing and access to the Parade Ring.

For the Grand National, there are a multitude of enclosures to choose from:

The Effect of the Draw

With Aintree being a National Hunt racecourse, there are no stalls so there is no draw bias. However, it’s worth noting that although Aintree is a flat course, it can be testing so you need a horse that can travel.
