Nicky Henderson’s Lulamba was a fine winner of the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury, and the unbeaten chaser is a hot favourite for the 2026 Arkle. However, last year’s Supreme hero Kopek Des Bordes is well fancied for Willie Mullins and is one win from one race over fences. Kargese was just touched off in the Irish Arkle, but with Romeo Coolio not lining up here then she looks a leading player. Steel Ally and Jax Junior are another brace of contenders that are well fancied as well.

Betting on the Arkle Chase
The Arkle Chase has long been one of the most exciting novice chases on the calendar, as the premier emerging chasers from the UK & Ireland do battle in the 2m Grade 1 event.
A race that has been won by some real stars down the years, the betting for the Arkle can often see some short-priced favourites line up and often they come to the fore. However, there have been some outsiders that have caused an almighty shock in the race, and they weren’t at the head of the Arkle betting.
It can be a contest with small fields, so it may not be the most exciting each-way betting race, but with quality in abundance it’s still one of the highlights on day one of the Cheltenham Festival.
