First-time blinkers when he was a very taking winner of last year's Copper Horse Stakes (1m6f, good to firm) at this meeting in which he came from well behind to win going away; gelded and, in no headgear, returned to that level of form when third in Group 2 at Newmarket (1m4f) on reappearance, only to then finish last of the five in new cheekpieces (retained) in the Group 3 Aston Park at Newbury; however, the first two home at Newbury were Group 1 horses, and on reflection it wasn't that bad a run; the burning question is whether he'll stay.

150,000gns yearling by Palace Pier; promising second behind a 1-2 shot on Lingfield debut (1m2f, AW) in April and he built on that when going close in a Windsor novice (1m2f, good to soft) last Monday; sets a good standard on that form and he has fast-ground winners on dam's side; should be hard to beat.

Made low-key start in April but a totally different proposition in his two races since, emerging best in a bunched finish for maiden at Southwell (1m, AW) and pulverising the opposition in a novice at Doncaster (1m2f, good to firm); changed hands since; very useful prospect going into this handicap debut.

Often leads; showed high-class form on good to firm ground last summer, runner-up in the Group 3 Jersey (7f) at this meeting, then involved in a tight finish for third place in the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket (6f) despite racing away from the main action for much of the way; had some excuses later but he was back on track when a close second in a 6f Listed race at Salisbury recently; can go well from rail draw.

Developed into a useful 2yo, following a close second in the Group 2 Vintage at Goodwood (7f, good) by beating his two rivals in a Salisbury Listed race (1m, good to firm); has a lengthy absence to overcome, and this drop back in distance isn't an obvious plus judged on his pedigree, but he's in excellent hands and retains potential.
