Portugal Top Goalscorer Odds
With Portugal tipped to go far and Cristiano Ronaldo taking to the field in his final World Cup, his odds of 25/1 to be the tournament’s top goalscorer could tempt many. Ronaldo is the record-scorer in international football with 143 goals, five of which were scored in qualifying. Ronaldo, has, however, only scored eight World Cup goals and has surprisingly never scored in the knockout stages.
Ronaldo is comfortably favourite to be top scorer for Portugal alone. However, other Portugal players to keep an eye on in the top goalscorer running include Bruno Fernandes and Goncalo Ramos, as well as Joao Felix.
| Player | Best Odds |
| Cristiano Ronaldo | 7/4 |
| Bruno Fernandes | 17/4 |
| Goncalo Ramos | 10/1 |
| Joao Felix | 16/1 |
Portugal Stage of Elimination Odds
As discussed, Portugal are priced at 11/1 to win the World Cup, but bookmakers believe their most likely point of exit is the round of 16, which is available at 11/4. This would mark the third time in the last five tournaments that Portugal have been eliminated at that stage.
They are a touch longer at 3/1 to go out in the quarter-finals for a second consecutive tournament. A potential early shock exit in the newly introduced round of 32 is priced at 10/3, while elimination at the semi-final stage – as was the case in 2006 – is offered at 5/1.
A runners-up finish is 9/1 while a shock group stage exit is out at 14/1.

Portugal World Cup History
The 2026 World Cup will be Portugal’s ninth appearance in the competition and seventh in a row in the 21st century. Portugal’s finest World Cup performance came on their tournament debut in 1966, when they finished third. That iconic campaign was driven by the legendary Eusébio, who claimed the Golden Boot after scoring nine goals.
However, couldn’t back up this early promise as they would only compete in one more World Cup between through to 2002, and that was a group stage exit in 1986. Their best finish since their debut was fourth in 2006 when they bowed out in the semi-finals following a narrow 1-0 loss to France.
How Did Portugal do at the Last World Cup?
Portugal bowed out in the quarter-finals of Qatar 2022 after they suffered a 1-0 loss to surprise package Morocco. They finished top of their group after wins over Ghana and Uruguay, then they thrashed Switzerland 6-1 in the last-16.
World Cup 2026 Portugal Prediction
Portugal have been drawn in Group K, where they will face Colombia, tournament debutants Uzbekistan, and an as-yet unnamed play-off winner. On paper, it is a group that strongly favours the Portuguese, a view reflected by bookmakers pricing them at 1/33 to qualify for the knockout stages.
Should Portugal progress as group winners, they would be set to meet a third-placed side from Groups D, E, I, J or L in the newly introduced round of 32. Switzerland could once again be waiting in the round-of-16, before a possible quarter-final showdown with Argentina and Lionel Messi; and it is at this stage where Portugal’s campaign may ultimately reach its conclusion.
