Coronation Stakes Tips – Royal Ascot

The Coronation Stakes is a Group 1 race open to three-year-old fillies and takes place on day four of Royal Ascot. Raced over a distance of 7f 213y, the Coronation Stakes attracts some of the premier milers from across the whole of Europe and it often sees fillies line up that competed in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier in the season. We will have all the latest Coronation Stakes tips here nearer the off.

Coronation Stakes Race in 2025

The Coronation Stakes in 2025 is set to be hugely competitive and it will see plenty of star fillies that have been seen in the Classics at the start of the season.

The Coronation Stakes can often be a race that sees the cream rise to the top and in the last ten runnings of the Group 1 contest there have been four winning favourites, while there’s only been one winner bigger than 6/1 in the betting that highlights that the shortest priced runners have a good record in the race.

It often attracts a relatively small field, so there’s rarely any draw bias, but horses have to be rated fairly highly and eight of the last ten winners have been rated 110 or higher.

Coronation Stakes History

First run in 1840, the Coronation Stakes may not be regarded as one of the premier Group 1 races during Royal Ascot, but it still attracts a stellar cast each year and some top notch three-year-old fillies have claimed victory in the race.

Promoted to Group 1 status in 2008 it has continued to blossom and stars such as Winter (2017), Inspiral (2022) and Tahiyra (2023) have bounded to glory and etched their names on the illustrious roll of honour.
