Mares’ Chase Odds 2024

The newest race at the Cheltenham Festival, the Mares’ Chase, has only been run on three occasions. In both of the first two years, Willie Mullins trained the winner in the form of Colreevy and Elimay, though that run came to an end in 2023 when Impervious won for Colm Murphy.

Latest Mares’ Chase odds

Only 17 horses have been entered for this season’s Mares’ Chase on day four of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival. They include strong ante-post favourite Dinoblue, who was second in last season’s Grand Annual, but has improved to win a Grade 1 this season. Trained by Willie Mullins, it will be expected that she can atone for that defeat a year on.’

Allegorie De Vassy and Limerick Lace are two classy mares that could put up a notable challenge to Dinoblue and that pair are prominent figures in the betting, as is Brides Hill, who was an impressive winner of her last outing.

Mares’ Chase Odds and Entries 2024

As well as Dinoblue, Mullins will almost certainly send Allegorie De Vassy, second in this a year ago, to this contest after she impressed in her most recent start at Naas. Last year’s winner Impervious, meanwhile, has been rules out for the season.

JP McManus owns Dinoblue, but may also be represented by Limerick Lace, trained by Gavin Cromwell. The eight-year-old has won twice this season, while stablemate Brides Hill has racked up a hat-trick and could also be involved.

Nicky Henderson looks to be the only man who can stand in the way of the Irish stronghold. Both Fantastic Lady and Tweed Skirt hold each-way chances on their best form.

Betting on the Mares’ Chase

The Mares’ Chase is the most recent addition to the programme on Cheltenham Gold Cup day. 2024 will see only the fourth renewal of this event but it is already following a familiar pattern. The all-conquering Willie Mullins stable won the first two editions with Colreevy and Elimay.

Mullins saddled four runners for the inaugural running in 2021 with Elimay heading the Mares Chase betting. She lost out in a duel with stable companion and second favourite Colreevy. The winner reappeared in the Grade 1 Champion Novice Chase at Punchestown where she defeated top novices Monkfish and Envoi Allen before being retired to the paddocks.

Elimay started 9-4 second favourite behind stable companion Concertista in 2022. The latter jumped poorly and was soon beaten but Elimay fought off the determined challenges of Pink Legend and Scarlet And Dove to win by half a length.

And in 2023, Mullins lost his monopoly on the race as his Allegorie De Vassy was overhauled on the run-in by Colm Murphy’s Impervious. However, the defending champion has been ruled out of this year’s Festival through injury.

Mares Chase News

Impervious will not be back to win back-to-back Mares’ Chases, ensuring that there will be a fourth successive different winner of the event. The favourite is Dinoblue, who should take some beating on her best form from this term.
