Pat’s Naps

Pat’s NAPs is a free-to-play game coming your way during the biggest horse racing festivals throughout the year. Not only is it a unique game, but it is completely free to enter, with prizes to be one.

If you are new to Pats NAPs, we guide you through the format below, including how to sign up and play. We also outline the prizes on offer and how you can create your own mini leagues in the new competition.

What Is Pat’s Naps

Pat’s NAPs is a brand new free-to-play horse racing game unlike any other on the market. Instead of being rewarded solely for picking winners, the odds of your winners matter too. The game runs across an entire horse racing festival, with the winner being the person who earns the most points across the week or weekend.

Points are earned based on the odds a horse wins at. However, it is still important to select winners only: you get no points for a placed selection, even if they outrun significant odds. Prizes are available for the winners at the end of each competition, with Glorious Goodwood, York’s Ebor meeting, and the Doncaster St Leger meeting just around the corner.

How To Play

Picking your selections for each day is simple with Pat’s NAPs. Once you enter a competition, the list of races each day can be found under the “Enter picks” tab, in which you can choose your horse in every race. We guide you through the entire step-by-step process from signing up below.

  • Sign up for a Pat’s NAPs account: Using your name and email address, fill in your key details to begin creating your Pat’s NAPs account. This is free to do and takes only a few seconds.
  • Join a competition: Click “Join Now” on that week’s competition, centred around a big horse racing festival
  • Choose your picks: Once you have joined, click the “Enter picks” tab to begin selecting your horses each day.
  • Pick one horse per race: Pick one horse in each race per day of the competition.
  • Select backups: If you wish to select a backup horse in the case of a non-runner, you can do so at the bottom of each race. This will default to the favourite if your horse does not run.
  • Pick a NAP: You can select a NAP selection each day by clicking the star icon at the top right of the page. This selection will be worth double points should it win.

Once you have followed these steps, you will have a complete set of selections as shown below.

How the Scoring Works

The scoring in Pat’s NAPs is straightforward to follow. Let’s say you pick a selection at 2/1 in a race and it wins. That earns you 2 points on the leaderboard. If you selected that horse as your “NAP2, you get twice the points, meaning it would earn you 4 points.

There is a points cap applied for outsiders at 16 points. Therefore, if you pick a winner at 20/1 (congratulations!), you will still only earn 16 points. This is also the case for NAPs: if you pick a 10/1 winning NAP, you can still only earn 16 points rather than 20. The table below shows you how the scoring works in summary.

Mini Leagues

If you wish to, you can create your own mini league between only friends and family. The winner’s prize in Pat’s NAPs goes only to the overall champion, but for those creating their own mini leagues, the spoils can be arranged among yourselves!

Prizes

Vouchers worth £100 have been awarded to the winners of Pat’s NAPs competitions so far, with further prizes in the offing. These could be more vouchers, tickets, or even a cash pot, with the prizes updated on Pat’s NAPs website for each competition.
