Today's Dundalk (AW) Tips, Racecards And Results
Dundalk – Results (26 May 2026)
Yesterday’s Dundalk Polytrack card delivered a mixture of expected and eye-catching results. The Liffey returned to winning form in the optional claiming, Jamestown made a routine job of the median auction maiden, and longshots Lamar Canyon, Cuban Grey and Grey Fable all produced big-value victories. There were several non-runners/withdrawals noted on the day, including Albion Power (off feed), Fate’s Gambit (coughing), Allirelandmaterial (withdrawn on veterinary advice), Real Encounter (unsuitable ground), Diligo (temperature), plus Eastern Wind (withdrawn) and Tara Power (reserve).
Key moments and notes
Jamestown (8/11) impressed travelling strongly before easing clear to win easily, while The Liffey (2/1) produced a smooth, decisive finish after being slowly away. At bigger prices Lamar Canyon (20/1) led late after hanging right but kept on strongly, and Cuban Grey (22/1) made all under a determined ride. Grey Fable (22/1) also held on in a tight finish in the evening handicap. Riders and trainers reported minor quirks for a few winners — a tendency to hang or lug on the run-in in some cases — but the overall picture was of horses taking advantage of favourable Polytrack conditions.

Dundalk Race Results
Dundalk is unquestionably one of the finest all-weather tracks in Europe. They currently host nearly 40 flat meetings throughout the year. The biggest race of the season at Dundalk is the Group 3 Mercury Stakes in late October.
Dundalk is particularly well-known for its regular Friday fixtures which run almost weekly from January to the end of March and from late September to the end of the year. Other big races include the Diamond Stakes in September, previously won by Aidan O’Brien’s Mastercraftsman and Declaration Of War, and the Legacy Stakes in October.
GG publish all Dundalk race results as quickly as possible. The winner, placed horses and SP returns are published as soon as the weigh in is confirmed. This is updated with the complete finishing order and Tote returns with all of yesterday’s results retained on site.
Racecourse Guide
Dundalk in County Leath is Ireland’s first and only flood-lit all-weather horse racing track. It is the only dual racecourse in Europe, combining both horse and greyhound racing. Every Friday meeting is a combined event with the greyhound racing following 20 minutes after the last horse race.
The track is a left-handed, flat oval of about 10 furlongs with a two and a half furlong run-in from the home turn. There is also a 5 furlong sprint track adjoining the home straight. It is known to be a very fair course, if a little sharp off the home bend – but once they straighten up there is ample opportunity for any horse to put themselves in with a chance.
The surface is generally regarded as riding like good to firm ground on turf. Horses that show their best turf form on soft ground may not find Dundalk an ideal surface. The track lends itself perfectly to course specialists with Togoville registering a record 14 wins here for Trainer Anthony McCann.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Dundalk used to have a turf track which was mostly used for National Hunt racing between 1889 and 2001. The new all-weather track was opened exclusively for flat racing in 2007 as part of a 35 million Euro redevelopment with a new grandstand, floodlights, restaurants and bars.
Hospitality packages include “The View Restaurant” which, as the name suggests, offers breath-taking views across the racecourse and beyond to the Cooley Mountains. You can enjoy a delicious four-course meal from the comfort of your reserved table. There are also finger food packages available which are suitable for groups of ten or more people. The Bit & Bite Takeaway is open on every race night for the traditional favourites like fish, chicken, chips and burgers.
Dundalk Racecourse is close to the border with Northern Ireland, about 45 miles from Dublin and 60 miles from Belfast. There are frequent trains between Connolly and Dundalk railway stations on all race days.
Tickets
Dundalk race throughout the year with a regular Friday night meeting during the winter months. You can book your tickets online with a £3 reduction for group bookings of ten or more. It is worth noting that horse racing attendees will automatically enjoy admission and a race programme to the evening greyhounds, a fantastic 2 for 1 offer if ever there was one!
The Effect of the Draw
Horses drawn low have a definite advantage in all sprint races at Dundalk. Rather like the tight track at Chester, there is a relatively short run-in with a cutaway rail, allowing horses to dash through on the inside of the leaders. The draw bias is not as significant in races over seven furlongs or a mile because there is a longer run to the turn.
