Today's Musselburgh Tips, Racecards And Results
Musselburgh — 6 June 2026: Daily summary and results
Going: GOOD (Good to firm in places on Round course; 8.3). Musselburgh produced a competitive afternoon featuring a Listed success and several tight finishes. Wee Mary set the tone with a front-running success in the 13:40 handicap, Circe justified favouritism in the Listed Queen of Scots, and Blues And Royals gained the big-field Edinburgh Cup by a short head. Upsets and dramas punctuated the card too — Approaching Dawn (22/1) produced a strong late surge to take the finale, while a number of horses were withdrawn or had travel issues before the card got under way.
Key events and talking points
Wee Mary (Amie Waugh) made all in the opening Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb and Ginger Handicap, shaken up only inside the final furlong and ultimately unchallenged. Tim Easterby’s Furturra (David Allan) pressed on late to take the Selling Stakes, and Royalty Bay edged out Black Storm in a photo-finish in the Classic Handicap, the winner edging it on the line.
The Listed Edinburgh Gin Queen Of Scots saw Circe (Callum Rodriguez) produce a well-timed run to lead inside the final furlong and hold on by 1 1/4 lengths. In the feature Edinburgh Cup, Blues And Royals (Pierre-Louis Jamin) wrestled the lead late to deny Pandemonium by a short-head.
There were several non-runners and problems at the stalls: Wrestling Revenue and Beaujolais Nouveau were affected by travel problems, Justmyluck was withdrawn after being upset in the stalls, Samra Star refused to enter the stalls and Haayimm was withdrawn due to unsuitable ground. Dandy Breeze was pulled up after the rider reported something felt amiss; the gelding was examined by the vet post-race and there were no further concerns recorded.

Notes and follow-up
Connections will be pleased with Circe’s Listed victory and the gutsy displays from Blues And Royals and Approaching Dawn. Trainers and jockeys will also take heart from the strong finishing efforts shown through the card. Attention now turns to veterinary checks and confirmation of any entries or declarations for the coming weeks; the withdrawals and non-runners from this card will be monitored to see if any require longer-term absence from the track.

Racecourse Guide
Racing has taken place at Musselburgh since 1777 when it was run by the Royal Caledonian Hunt. The current site was established in 1816 and the course has out-lasted neighbouring Lanark and Bogside which were forced to close in 1977 and 1965 respectively. A dual-purpose, seaside course, it attracts the best trainers from the north and many from the south too – a real Scottish gem within the community.
Musselburgh is a sharp, right handed track with a straight five furlong course. The turns are very sharp, despite the investment in re-cambering the track in recent years. The course certainly favours sharper horses that like to race up with the pace, especially so on faster ground. A big, long-striding horse can find the leaders gone beyond recall by the time it hits top gear in the home straight.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Musselburgh provides award-winning facilities in a five-star visitor attraction with fine transport links and free parking. They range from the Epperston and Queen Stand Restaurants to the Queen Stand Private Boxes. The Bistro offers a relaxed dining experience with traditional home-cooked style meals with most ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
Café 1816 has been refurbished and offers stylish surroundings with a choice of sandwiches, panini, soup, baking and patisserie. The Pommery Champagne Bar, Dizzy’s Bar and Freddies Bar are among the popular drinking venues. Quality food and drink outlets are located around the racecourse and beside the picnic areas.

The Effect of the Draw
The draw bias at Musselburgh can vary with the distance and going. On good or fast ground, low numbers have a slight advantage over five furlongs but the reverse is true over seven furlongs where high numbers are favoured. However, there appears to be no draw bias over the longer distance when the going is soft.
