What Can We Expect from this Year’s Grand National?
Although there’s plenty of fantastic action across the final day card, it’s clear the feature race is the Grand National, arguably the biggest race in the National Hunt calendar. 2024 winner I Am Maximus is set to return off top-weight, with defending champion Nick Rockett just 1lb below in the handicap. No horse has carried saddlecloth no.1 to victory in the Grand National since Red Rum won his third Grand National in 1977.
There are plenty of other big names set to take him on though, including last year’s third and fourth Grangeclare West and the JP McManus-owned Iroko.
