Horses To Note

  • Just Queen High — 2 runs, 2 wins (100% win rate), 2 places (100% place rate). Prize money: £9,848.90. Unbeaten in two starts at the track — major chance if repeating that form.

  • Sergeant Mayer — 3 runs, 2 wins (66.67%); 3 places (100% place rate). Prize money: £8,400.60. Very reliable in small fields — a consistent place threat and frequent winner here.

Trainers To Note

  • Micky Fenton — 2 runs, 1 win (50%), 1 place (50%). Prize money: £3,402.10. Good strike-rate from limited runners; a trainer to monitor with lightly-raced types.
  • Michael Herrington — 15 runs, 5 wins (33.33%), 9 places (60%). Prize money: £29,826.35. Strong recent form at the course and regularly gets winners into the places.
  • Ed Walker — 66 runs, 17 wins (25.76%), 29 places (43.94%). Prize money: £127,595.40. High volume and solid strike rate — his runners are dangerous when conditions suit.

  • Jake Dickson — 12 rides, 3 wins (25%), 6 places (50%). Prize money: £19,988.45. Strong place strike and high involvement — a key rider to follow through the card.
  • Ethan Tindall — 4 rides, 1 win (25%), 1 place (25%). Prize money: £4,429.15. Capable of an impact when partnered with in-form trainers.
  • Kaiya Fraser — 25 rides, 6 wins (24%), 11 places (44%). Prize money: £50,694.22. High rides volume and consistent returns — often gets the best from sprint/middle-distance types here.
  • Cieren Fallon — 99 rides, 20 wins (20.2%), 38 places (38.38%). Prize money: £145,524.37. Top-level strike-rate and a big influence in race outcomes when on board.

Use these notes to prioritise entries on the card — horses with strong course form (Just Queen High, Venetian Lion, Sonic Si) and trainers/jockeys with consistent strike-rates at Nottingham should be higher on shortlists for the day.

Nottingham Race Results

Racing at Nottingham was held on the Forest Recreation Ground for around two hundred years before the move to the current site at Colwick Park, where the first meeting took place in 1892. Nottingham originally hosted both flat and National Hunt racing but the last jump meeting was held in 1996. The venue now hosts 23 flat race meetings during the season.

There are two Listed races at Nottingham; the Nottinghamshire Oaks in April and the Robin Hood Stakes in October. Ladies Day in May attracted a record crowd in 2018 while the Colwick Cup in October is another highlight at the Midlands track. There are also well attended summer evening meetings and a season finale in November.

Racecourse Guide

Nottingham is a fair, left-handed track with easy turns and a long home straight of more than half a mile, although the turn into the straight is fairly sharp. The course suits well-balanced horses rather than big, long-striding types. There is also a six furlong straight course for sprint races.

Nottingham has long been regarded as an ideal track for inexperienced horses. Derby winner Slip Anchor won his maiden here in 1984 as did subsequent Fillies’ Triple Crown winner Oh So Sharp in 1984. 1999 Derby winner Oath also won here, all three being trained by Sir Henry Cecil.

Dining, Hospitality & Facilities

Nottingham offers a wide range of hospitality packages to suit your requirements. The Sherwoods Restaurant boasts stunning views over the racecourse and a choice of two or three course meals with light afternoon tea. The Robin Hood Suite and the larger Centenary Suite can be hired for meetings, conferences and celebrations.

You can also choose from a selection of private boxes overlooking the racecourse; see the racecourse website for current packages. There are also various food and drink outlets around the racecourse.

Nottingham Station is two miles from the racecourse with frequent taxis available for the short journey on race days.

Tickets

You can book your Nottingham general admission tickets online. These include great views of the parade ring, racecourse and winner’s enclosure. There will be food and drinks concessions onsite. You can also reserve your hospitality package with full details on the website.

The Effect of the Draw

There is quite a sharp turn into the home straight so it is an advantage to be drawn low in races over a mile. High numbers are favoured on the straight six furlong course at Nottingham.
