Racecourse Guide
Brighton racecourse is situated above the seaside town with wonderful views of the surrounding area. It is a sharp, left handed horseshoe shaped undulating track of about a mile and a half. The run downhill into the straight is the sharpest decline in the country with an uphill climb of four furlongs to the finishing post. There is a camber towards the far rail so horses do tend to hang to their left. Brighton favours sharp front-runners rather than long striding horses who can get unbalanced on this testing track.
The 3-day Summer Festival is the highlight of Brighton’s racing year featuring the Brighton Mile on the opening day. There have been many course specialists at Brighton over the years so previous form on the track is definitely an advantage. The most recent local hero was Roy Rocket, a popular grey who won here nine times for Trainer John Berry.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Brighton racecourse offers a superb range of hospitality packages. You can reserve a private suite with spectacular track-side views against the backdrop of the Sussex coastline. The Silks Restaurant provides the perfect spot for some luxury dining with the finest views of the racing from the Silks Terrace. Special packages are also available on selected race days at the Prince Regent Restaurant. There are also a selection of food and drink outlets around the course to cater for all budgets throughout the season.
Brighton Railway Station is only 1 hour from London with regular services from London Victoria, Kings Cross and London Bridge. There are also frequent trains from Eastbourne, Lewes, Hastings, Worthing and Portsmouth.
Tickets
You can save money by reserving your tickets online. There is also a great value 3-day Festival Pass to the Summer Festival meeting which gives you access to all of the entertainment, bars and eateries plus fantastic views of the racing and parade ring. Tickets can also be booked in advance for the luxurious Silks Restaurant and Marina, Sussex or Winning Post Private Box.
The Effect of the Draw
There is no significant draw bias at Brighton unless the ground is soft or heavy. In this instance, low numbers are at a slight disadvantage. The stands side is thought to be a bit faster and jockeys tend to steer their mounts over to the rail.

The Effect of the Draw
There is no real draw bias, except maybe on really soft ground when very low numbers are at a slight disadvantage as the runners tend to head for the stand rail.
