Today's Carlisle Tips, Racecards And Results
Carlisle Results — 9 July 2026
Yesterday at Carlisle (Good to Firm; Good in places; watered; 7.6) produced a competitive six‑race card. Key winners included Wid (Ralph Beckett/Jason Hart) who made all to take the Racing TV Novice Stakes, and Celestia (Harry Charlton/Mark Winn) who just held on in the Molson Coors EBF Maiden Fillies’. Wolf Of Badenoch landed the Muckle Handicap under Stevie Donohoe, Great produced a late run to claim the Rachael Bell Wealth Management Handicap, Rogue Attraction picked up the British EBF Fillies’ Handicap comfortably, and Homestrait edged Supreme Clarets to take the Dalston ‘Confined’ Handicap.
Connections to note: trainer Edward Bethell enjoyed a productive afternoon with a winner (Rogue Attraction) and a close second (Rogue Passion). There were a handful of withdrawals: Due To Shine and Top Lad were declared unsuitable for the going and Albeseeingyer was withdrawn on a self‑certificate.
Raceday summary
The firmish surface helped horses able to dictate or finish strongly; several winners came from rearward positions before making decisive late moves, while the front‑running Wid was able to control the early tempo and repel challengers.

Racecourse Guide
Situated between the Borders and the Lake District, Carlisle provides locals and tourists alike with an ideal opportunity for a day out at the races. Stamina is an important factor here as the course is galloping in nature and the uphill finish provides a real sting in the tail.
Carlisle is a right handed course of around a mile and a half. The going can become very testing which makes it even more gruelling for jump racing. When the ground gets very soft, jockeys tend to bring their horses over to the stand side in search of better ground.
Carlisle Bell & Plate Day in June is the highlight of the flat racing season. Master Of The House won the Bell in successive seasons in 1994 and 1995. The main jumping event in Carlisle’s calendar is the Colin Parker Memorial Chase in November. Names to feature on the roll of honour include top class chasers Many Clouds (2014), Monet’s Garden (2006) and Tidal Bay (2008).
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Carlisle has a number of restaurants and boxes available for you to entertain clients, family or friends. They can accommodate small groups and anything up to 100 guests. There are various packages on offer from the Classic Experience to the Premier or VIP Experience. There are also private boxes available for hire.
Full package details and prices are available for pre-booking online with other food and drink outlets available on race days. Carlisle racecourse is just over 2 miles from Carlisle Railway Station on the West Coast Main Line.
Tickets
Carlisle stages racing all-year-round with winter jumps fixtures and summer flat meetings. Carlisle Bell & Cumberland Plate Day in June is the flat highlight while there are also Family Fun Days, Steak Nights and a Ladies Night in early August.
General Admission tickets provide access to all public areas on the ground floor including all eateries. There are also group concessions for parties of ten or more and the popular Punters Package which includes vouchers for an alcoholic drink plus pie, peas and hot drink!
The Effect of the Draw
There are varied opinions on the effect of the draw at Carlisle. Runners who come down the centre of the track in the home straight seem to do bet while statistics suggest that there is a slight advantage for low numbers in races over five and six furlongs.
