Hereford — Results from 12 May 2026

Hereford served up a busy afternoon on 12 May with four completed contests. Lady Kara justified favouritism to take the Ludford Car Parts Group Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle, Campaign Trail made all to win the CopyBet Handicap Hurdle, Ice Jet powered clear to land the First Past The Post Handicap Hurdle, and Lost In The Dream just prevailed in the Season Finale National Hunt Flat Race. The going began GOOD (good to firm in places) and was reported as changing to GOOD TO FIRM (good in places) after the fourth race. There were a number of non-runners and pulled-up runners of note: Hidden Fortune and Celine Man were declared non-runners, Monsieur Fernand was withdrawn after being scoped badly, Nannymooresbridge and both Midnight Pass and Ikigai Star were pulled up (connections reported no clear explanation for the latter two), and several riders reported horses not travelling as expected.

Key takeaways

Lady Kara (1/2) travelled prominently throughout before asserting late in the mares’ novices’ hurdle, while Campaign Trail (15/8) led from the front and drew clear after the second-last to secure the handicap. Ice Jet (6/5) improved to lead 3 out and bounded clear after 2 out for an easy success. In the concluding NH Flat event, Lost In The Dream (5/4) produced a strong late surge to hold off Master Roque by a short head.

Full result notes: In the mares’ novices’ hurdle Hidden Fortune and Nannymooresbridge did not complete (Hidden Fortune a non-runner on unsuitable ground; Nannymooresbridge pulled up). In the 16:45 handicap both Midnight Pass and Ikigai Star were pulled up and trainers had no immediate explanation for their poor returns; Celine Man was a non-runner (self certificate). In the finale, Monsieur Fernand was withdrawn after being scoped badly. Connections will likely monitor the horses pulled up; otherwise it was a positive day for the winning stables, with front-running and bold tactics paying dividends at Hereford.
