Hexham Race Results
Hexham is the most northerly racecourse in England and stages 15 National Hunt meetings between April and December. These include very popular summer jump meetings and evening meetings. The Heart of All England Chase was first run in 1907 and takes place in early May and there is a popular Ladies Day in June. There is also a Christmas Raceday in mid-December.
Past winners of the Heart of All England Chase include Earls Brig (1972). He went on to finish third to Forgive n’ Forget in the 1985 Cheltenham Gold Cup. He was bred, owned and trained locally by Billy Hamilton at Bonchester Bridge near Hawick.

Racecourse Guide
Hexham Racecourse is high on the Northumberland moors, just south of Hadrian’s Wall and 700 metres above sea level. It is a left-handed, undulating track of about one and a half miles. There is a steep climb from the end of the back straight to the finishing line with only a short run-in after jumping the last.
The fences are not regarded as being difficult with ten jumps on each circuit. The biggest factor to consider at Hexham is the ground as it can get very testing here. In soft or heavy ground, it can be an exhausting climb back up to the winning post.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Hexham must rate as one of the most picturesque racecourses in the UK with the surrounding hills forming a natural amphitheatre. There are a range of hospitality packages on offer including the Henderson Suite with its own bar and stunning views of the track. It overlooks the parade ring and winners’ enclosure, an idyllic setting in which to enjoy your four course carvery buffet.
The Curlew Room also provides panoramic views of the racecourse and includes club enclosure entry and a private table for the day. You can purchase food and drink from the snack menu which typically features a hot dish and pies. Hexham’s private boxes serve everything from finger buffets to four course carvery buffets with optional afternoon tea. The Enderby, Patterson and Gill Boxes are on the top floor of the Ramshaw Stand and can each accommodate from 20 to 24 guests.
Hexham Racecourse is at High Yarridge in Northumberland. Hexham Railway Station is just two miles from the racecourse on the Newcastle upon Tyne to Carlisle line. A free shuttle bus service operates on all race days.
Tickets
You can book your Hexham admission tickets online. Paddock tickets are available with a £2 discount for seniors or you can purchase Club Enclosure tickets. Memberships can also be purchased online with numerous benefits including admission to the Members’ Room with free tea and coffee for all meetings.
