Killarney Race Results

Killarney is in the tourist area of County Kerry in Ireland and is one of the most scenic racecourses in the world. It stages thirteen meetings each year with a mixture of Flat and National Hunt racing. The feature event at the August Festival is the Listed Ruby Stakes.

The Ruby Stakes is a mile race for three-year-olds and upwards and was formerly held at Tralee until that course was closed in 2007. Trainer Aidan O’Brien won five consecutive renewals between 2008 and 2012 and took his tally to eight when Horoscope won here in 2021.

GG publish full Killarney race results within moments of the weigh in being confirmed. The winner, placed horses and SP returns are displayed as soon as possible on Today’s Results & Racecards page. This is later updated with the complete finishing order and Tote returns which can be accessed by clicking on each race title.

Racecourse Guide

The current County Kerry course has been running since 1936 and is one of the most beautifully set racecourses in the world. Right in the heart of Kerry’s tourist epicentre, Killarney holds three summer festivals, all equal in stature and competitiveness of racing. Most are evening meetings with three-day festivals in May, July and August. The May meeting opens with a day-time jumps card while the July and August festivals both conclude with a day-time Ladies’ day.

Killarney is a sharp, left handed track of just over nine furlongs and there are no races shorter than a mile. Despite the sharp turns, the long straight allows runners plenty of time to get a clear run. There are six fences to each circuit over jumps with three in the home straight and a run-in of about a furlong.

Dining, Hospitality & Facilities

Killarney racecourse is known for its great hospitality, with restaurants providing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The Panoramic Restaurant, Jim Culloty Bar, Maurice O’Donoghue Stand and Jockeys Whip provide plenty of choice for racegoers.

The Panoramic Restaurant, as the name suggests, provides breath-taking views of Killarney National Park, Ross Castle, the Lakes of Killarney and MacGillycuddy Reeks. Menu choices can cater for any ethnic or dietary requirements providing you contact the racecourse at least 14 days prior to the event. There is also live entertainment in the Jim Culloty Bar after racing.

Killarney Bus and Train Station provide a regular service from all major cities in Ireland. The station is just half a mile from the racecourse and nearby Kerry Airport is only fifteen minutes away by road.

Tickets

You can book your admission and hospitality tickets online for Killarney races. There are discounts for senior citizens and students and for group bookings of ten or more. The Panoramic Corporate Package can be reserved for tables of ten with smaller parties accommodated alongside like-minded racing fans.

The Effect of the Draw

Although there are no sprint races at Killarney, a low draw can be an advantage in races over a mile or longer. You don’t want to be out wide going into the sharp turn after the winning post.
