Lingfield Race Results

Lingfield Park racecourse currently stages 75 meetings per year with frequent flat racing on the all-weather and both flat and jumps meeting on turf. The biggest Lingfield races are the Group 3 Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes and the Derby and Oaks Trials in May and the Winter Derby in late February/early March. Lingfield also hosts the All-Weather Championships Finals Day on Good Friday, the most valuable All-Weather Raceday in Europe.

Lingfield Park created an all-weather Equitrack in 1989 which was re-laid as a Polytrack in 2001. This decision was vindicated by the approval of trainers and jockeys and Lingfield was quickly established as the leading all-weather track in the country. The £1 million All-Weather Championship meeting at Easter is the culmination of over 200 meetings across the country with qualifying races for Finals Day.

Racecourse Guide

Lingfield is the only racecourse in the UK to stage flat turf, flat all-weather and National Hunt racing. The turf track is almost a mile and a half, left handed and undulating, cutting across the straight seven-furlong course at the four furlong pole.

The going is a big factor at Lingfield. On good ground, front runners can gather momentum on the downhill run into the straight and can be difficult to reel back in. However, it is a long way home from the turn when the ground rides soft.

The all-weather track is on the inside of the turf track and is just less than a mile and a quarter. This is essentially a sharp track which suits strong-travellers. It is possible to come from off the pace but you don’t want your horse to be too far back once they turn for home.

Lingfield races over jumps are frequently run on soft or heavy ground where the emphasis is firmly on stamina. The fences are fairly straight-forward and the bumper races are usually run on the all-weather surface.

Dining, Hospitality & Facilities

Lingfield offers a superb range of hospitality packages. The racecourse has benefitted from considerable development in modern times and now boasts impressive restaurants and suites with fine food and super service.

Trackside Restaurant hospitality packages can be booked in advance, providing the best views of the racecourse. Packages also include a private table with a dedicated host, three course menu and TV screens. Lingfield’s 20 private boxes can be reserved for your clients, staff or for a special occasion. Marquee hospitality and themed packages are also available on selected racedays.

Lingfield Park racecourse is in Surrey, close to the borders of Sussex and Kent. There are frequent train services from London to East Grinstead via Oxted to Lingfield Park Railway Station which is adjacent to the racecourse.

Tickets

You can book your Lingfield admission tickets online with discounts for bookings of six or more. You can also reserve your tickets for the various hospitality packages including the Home Straight and Trackside Restaurant.

The Effect of the Draw

There used to be a definite bias in favour of high numbers on the turf, particularly up to seven furlongs. This no longer appears to be the case but a high draw can be a disadvantage on the all-weather where low numbers are favoured. Horses drawn 8 or higher can struggle, particularly after recent rain which tends to make the artificial surface ride faster.
