Plumpton Race Results
Plumpton is a jumps only track which stages 16 meetings between September and May. The biggest Plumpton betting race of the season is the Sussex National which takes place on a Sunday in early January. Other notable meetings include the 2-day Easter Festival and the Family Raceday which opens the new season in September.
The Easter Festival carries over £200,000 in prize money and features the Sussex Champion Hurdle on Easter Sunday and the Sussex Champion Chase on Easter Monday. There is also the ever popular Ladies Day meeting in May.

Racecourse Guide
Plumpton is a small, friendly, countryside course in East Sussex. They rightly claim to be a hidden gem in the world of horse racing. Plumpton is a very sharp, undulating, left-handed track of just over a mile in circumference. This tight circuit does not suit every horse and previous course form can be a key factor.
The course provides a real test for both horses and jockeys. The ground can become very testing during the winter months where the uphill finish often plays an important role in the outcome of races. The course has a downhill run on the far side of the track before an uphill climb to the finishing post. The fences are relatively easy but the downhill fence on the far side can cause problems when horses do not meet it on a good stride.
Racing first took place at Plumpton in 1884 and The Queen Mother enjoyed her first winner at the course with Super Fox in 1963. Television commentator Derek Thompson rode Classified to victory over HRH The Prince of Wales on Long Warf in 1980 and Tony McCoy rode his 3,000th career winner here aboard Restless d’Artaix in 2009. Famous racehorses to win at Plumpton include Grand National winners Nickel Coin, Foinavon and Comply Or Die.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Plumpton offer a variety of packages to create your perfect day at the races. The course prides itself on supplying top quality locally-sourced food and drinks. Suppliers include Brighton and Newhaven fish sales, Harvey’s Brewery and Long Man Brewery.
The Paddock Restaurant is situated on the first floor of the Sussex Stand with a private balcony overlooking the winning post. The Final Fence Restaurant is a semi-permanent marquee adjacent to the last fence. The private tables cater for 2-12 guests and larger parties can also be accommodated. There are also five private boxes in the Southdown Stand and four in the Lewes Stand plus the exclusive Directors Box for the ultimate VIP experience.
Plumpton Railway Station is adjacent to the track on the London Victoria to Lewes line with trains running every hour from the capital.
Tickets
You can book race day packages and daily admission tickets online at early bird prices. You can buy a Picnic Enclosure Ticket which provides access to the centre course areas. For an extra £5 you can purchase a Grandstand and Paddock ticket with parade ring viewing and trackside views. Early Bird prices are available up to one month prior to the race day.
