Roscommon Race Results
Roscommon stages nine meetings between May and September; five on the flat and four over jumps. The feature race on the flat is the Listed Lenebane Stakes over a mile and three furlongs in July. The leading jump race is the Grade 3 Kilbegnet Novice Chase over two miles in September.
All but two of the fixtures are evening meetings which attract big crowds and create a lively atmosphere against the backdrop of the stunning Irish countryside. There is a Family Day (flat meeting) in early July and a Ladies’ Day (National Hunt meeting) a week later.

Racecourse Guide
Roscommon is a right handed track of almost a mile and a quarter with an uphill finish. The course is mostly flat and, despite being a sharp track, it is popular with trainers and jockeys and provides a fair test for young horses.
There are five fences to a circuit on the chase course with a run-in of about 200 yards. The bends are quite sharp but there is plenty of time for horses to get organised for the finishing straight. There are rarely excuses for beaten horses, although it is more suited to runners which like to travel up with the pace.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Roscommon provides a range of food and drink facilities to make sure you enjoy your day at the races. The largest bar is the Main Stand Bar which also provides live music and post-race dancing. The Upstairs Bar has panoramic views of the racecourse with full bar and snack facilities.
The Montelado Bar can be reserved for groups of 70 to 100 people with finger food arranged on request. The Buffet Restaurant is adjacent to the Small Stand with a full buffet menu and seating for 60 guests. There are also mobile stands around the course including a coffee kiosk and a mobile burger stall.
Roscommon Station is on the Dublin (Heuston) to Westport line. The racecourse is just a short taxi ride from the station.
Tickets
You can book your Roscommon admission tickets online with a 10% saving. There are also discounts for seniors and students. You can purchase the Roscommon Special which includes a 2 course meal, 10 euro bet and racecard. If you are unsure which day you will be able to attend, you can purchase a Flexi-Ticket at the discounted rate with admission to any one of the nine race days.
The Effect of the Draw
There is no sprint track at Roscommon but there may be a slight advantage for low numbers in races over seven furlongs.
